WATCH ALONG: Cape Fear

TJ did request that I watch the original from 1962 so if you'd like to watch along - it looks likes it's only on amazon prime or  on YouTube! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

WATCH ALONG: Cape Fear

Oh Ashleigh, you need to see Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter. Seven years before this one (1955), also black and white, powerful, and none of the corny 60s acting, you just watch. I went to film school, I thought I had seen everything, and when I watched it I was dumbfounded that I had never heard of it before. It is wild, it is powerful, it will shake you up.

I don't think we can really talk about Gregory Peck without mentioning To Kill A Mockingbird. Fun fact, Atticus Finch was named by The American Film Institute as the greatest hero of the 20th century. Respect. :)

Nick of Time

Yeah, we need more of the ZAZ movies up in here.

after the cry from the last movie, I would have recommended the The Naked Gun. a funny movie to cheer up too. Ohh Gregory Peck has such a cool voice.

I think there will always be a comparison as long as there are remakes and Ive always liked Gregory Peck. Sorry but Nick Nolte just feels so....out of place in this movie.

Really, you think the acting here is unwatchable when compared to De Niro going full ham in the remake? Like whichever one you want, but be fair in your comparisons.

Kenton Kruger

Never seen this original version and definitely enjoyed getting the opportunity to compare, as I have seen the 1991 version a couple of times. I like that these suggestions get me to build upon my own film experience through Ashleighโ€™s channel ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‘

Oh dear, I think someone had their nostalgia glasses on when they recommended this one. I found the acting to be almost unwatchable in some scenes. Recommending this version over the remake, thus depriving both Ashleigh and her audience of Jessica Lange's outstanding performance, seems like little more than a cruel joke to me.

I haven't had a chance to watch yet, but I will say that as thrillers with Robert Mitchum as the bad guy go, I think 1955's Night of the Hunter is outstanding.
