I honestly forgot how sad this movie was. The "I'm older and I have more insurance" was the piece that always stuck with me. Jessica Tandy was an amazing actress and her career spanned decades. This was a great part to see her in. Glad you survived!

A little thing.
Winn-Dixie was a big grocery store chain in the South back in the 70's and 80's and their call-sign was "The Beef People". They chose to lure in the modern southern housewife with the promise of quality meats. To the point that they hung signage on their storefronts and ran commercials to inspire folks with their great meat.

It's probably been 20 years since I last watched this movie. Thank you for giving me the chance to rewatch it with you. This was lovely. ❤

Jessica Tandy was a national treasure and if you enjoyed her in this then Driving Miss Daisy is also a sweet story with Morgan Freeman in it and Dan Aykroyd. Also, and you can save it or HallowBeans this year but Witches of Eastwick, good one. Along with everyone else, League of their Own is definitely a great one as well.

Wow, I haven't seen you cry that hard since you watched the cops clear out all of the homeless under that bridge. Hope you recovered.
I'm with Kristine, I think you'd love A League of Their Own

I second this but my only real problem with the film is that the last 20 minutes of it really seams to drag on longer and slower than it should. It's a great but flawed film in my humble. With that caveat, hell yeah, Ashleigh should react to it.

I really think you should watch A League of Our Own. It is so good, and one of my favorites.

I'm so glad this film touched you. I cried my eyes out when I first saw it. If you ever get a chance, please read the book.

I love this film but I hate that they heterosexualized Ruth and Idgie's relationship. In the book they were lovers. It's a lovely read.

The Magic Spark lady is Fannie Flagg, author of the book this film is based on.

Also, for those interested, here’s a fantastic article about the queer-coding in this film. It’s a watershed moment in the memories of a lot of queer folks, as close to overt representation of a same sex marriage as they would get for a while:

Mary Stuart Masterson has a great little movie with Robert Downey Jr. called Chances Are. She's also in one of my favorite John Hughes films Some Kind of Wonderful.

It was. She didn't mention it but it was shown on the screen right at the beginning of the run.

Did you want an extended version? I keep getting out of sync with the copy I have and there are times it seems you are commenting to things not in my version.
