My hubby and I just watched your reaction and it did not disappoint. You are adorable even when crying. Yeah this movie still gets me every time. Glad you liked it!

Midgey_M

She and her husband star as an old married couple in Batteries Not Included and they are adorable!

Lynnetta

I watch a lot of the old Match Games on Buzzer TV and love when Fannie is on the celebrity panel!

Lynnetta

I've seen this multiple times, but I still cried right along with you. I have to say, I think this is one of my favorite reactions so far.

Rebecca Anne

I forgot how intense this movie is. Shew! I'm looking forward to your reactions to Casablanca and Cape Fear!

Michael Waldrep

Ahw, fuck this movie... :D

Manuel Johnen

Ashleigh. There's nothing like a good cry to cleanse the soul. I had not seen this movie. So, don't blame me. But it's now on my list along with Terms of Endearment for a good cry.

Mark Dunham

I really hope she watches War Games too.

OH MY GOD. I love that you included a shit ending 😂😂 💩

Ashleigh Burton

I respect that though. Bologna can get slimy but I'm a hoe for a good fried bologna sandwich

Ashleigh Burton

Casablanca coming next Monday!

Ashleigh Burton

SO GOOD

Ashleigh Burton

about the movie obviously. it was CATastrophic to her feelings as well.

I knew you’d fall apart, bless your soft heart. It’s a beautiful story, one of my favorites.

Brian Harris

Jessica Tandy (Miss Threadgoode) had a late career resurgence beginning with Coocoon in 1985. She holds the record as the oldest woman to win a Best actress Oscar for Driving Miss Daisy in 1989. Over a long career she originated the role of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire on Broadway and appeared in Hitchcock's The Birds. Her husband was Hume Cronyn, who you saw as a jury member in 12 Angry Men.

Alexander Fish

You’re goin through the change. I think that’s my favorite line. I bawled my eyes out when I first saw it - I was a hot mess in the movie theater snorting and blowing into my popcorn napkins. And - I bawled again watching your review. You even got a sniffle or two out of my husband, which I have never been able to do, and I’ve been trying for 17 years. Will keep trying, though. You should consider watching Boys on the Side - another one with Mary Louise Parker.

She actually got it twice last week!

Tyler Foster

That movie killed me!

Mo Vetta

PS . . . considering how much you seemed to love Mary Stewart Masterson (Idgie), I think you need to watch Some Kind of Wonderful with her and Eric Stoltz (Lance in Pulp Fiction) and Lea Thompson (Marty's mom in Back to the Future), a movie written by JOHN HUGHES. I think I remember seeing you get this movie in one of your unboxings.

Raul Melendez

Wow...I really felt for you in this reaction you really went through it...I had forgotten it was based on a novel by Fannie Flagg(who also co-wrote the screenplay and had a cameo appearance as the assertiveness teacher)a very funny lady who was probably best known as a panelist on the 1973-82(best)version of "Match Game" and for her appearances on the 70s syndicated version of "Candid Camera" and one of my all time faves: "Fernwood 2Night/ America 2Night"

Paul Johnson

I kinda need to know what Beans was yelling about?

Elisa H.

Loved this movie and I reacted just like you. Beans yelling at you was so funny. Thanks for a great episode 👍

Ashleigh <3 You reacted to this movie the same way I did when I first saw it. I love that you get emotionally invested in the characters. I think that's why your reactions are so awesome! I'm guessing by now you've called your mom and asked her WTF? Because she knew what she was sending you into. :-) I think the best movies are the ones that make us feel something this completely. And it was so sweet that Beans was there at the end to give you some love. :-)

Raul Melendez

Ashleigh, this was the most wholesome and genuine reaction to FGT that I’ve ever seen from ANYBODY. My family friend puts this on her top 3 favorite movies of all time. You BIG cried the hell outta this one. Now if you wanna see some future ones along the same lines with less big crying I’d recommend Mermaids and Mask with Cher, and The Man In The Moon with Reese Witherspoon. You’ll get a kick out of those for sure. Thanks for the extra beans! Now on my way to cure my Montezuma’s Revenge from Cabo. 💩🙏🏼🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

Gio Vidrio

Great review. I think from now on any movies any movies with southern women in set in the south should come with a warning for rollercoaster of emotions in this movie. The one that comes to mind is Places in The Heart with Sally Fields. She won an Oscar for that one.

Mike Johnson

If anyone would like a small amusing story about this movie. My best friend's husband worked as an assistant on set when they filmed on location in Georgia. He still remembers to this day that Jessica Tandy only wanted to eat baloney sandwiches for lunch - and she requested that he individually separate the slices, and pat them "dry" between sheets of paper towels first...lol. The amount of pat-down-the-meat puns that has probably resulted in, over the years ha!

Rebecca Monk

Reba as an older Idgie. Interesting.

Tyler Foster

She and the member who requested it have confirmed that she's watching/watched the 1962 original.

Tyler Foster

deleted post

Birdie Num Num

I am crying right along with you. Now you need a comedy.

Tara M. Wilcoxon

I'm not sure this is in the book (it doesn't say on the Wikipedia page for the novel), but I also kind of suspected that the reality of Kathy Bates' marriage was a similar thing.

Tyler Foster

While I have not personally read it, I understand that the book the film is based on is something of an icon in the LGBT+ community. So watching this in Pride Month seems appropriate.

Carl Sage

I watched this for the first time yesterday, and I thought it was pretty good, although it's a shame (if unfortunately understandable for a major motion picture in the '90s) that the movie downplays the fact that Idgie was in love with Ruth, which is apparently clearer in the book. That's why Ruth's first question to Idgie when she shows up is whether or not she found a fella, and she never gets one (nor does Ruth, after she leaves Frank), as well as why Ruth seems sort of resigned to the fact that she's marrying Frank like she's "supposed to," even before you learn that Frank sucks. Idgie only has eyes for Ruth. Another little cue is the way Idgie dresses throughout the movie. It's one of those "just good friends" movies that isn't really about good friends, although since the movie doesn't explicitly say they're lesbians, people can interpret it however they want.

Tyler Foster

I truly adore you for this reaction. Some films, some stories, are WORTH the ride and all the ups and downs. The tears and the laughter. Just think of the lyrics of "The Dance" - "I could have missed the pain, but I'd of had to miss the dance." Thank you for sharing the experience with us. It means so much.. Hugs.

Rebecca Monk

Ummm not sure I knew fried green tomatoes was an actual food and not just the name of the movie. (never seen the movie)

Elisa H.

Ashleigh. wow. as I watched your video I meditated and prayed for you. blessings. namaste and amen.

stephen phillips

I’m torn on how I feel about you watching this movie. On one hand I knew you were going to have this kind of reaction and glad you did, on the other hand I knew you were going to have this reaction and feel guilty for not preparing you more soundly. You did great! Keep breathing deep breaths. Give your mom a big hug and talk it out with her too!

Ullatec

Oh, and they announced a few months ago that they’re making a tv sequel for this, starring… the one and only Reba! 😄

Ali D

Mom is always right.

Richard Meyer

I think one of us has our wires crossed? The quote doesn't seem to match the film title. Or maybe I'm just slow.

T.J. Gengler

Ah, I want to make you ugly cry with every movie now! Bravo!

Actually I’ve thought of one that might be worse than this… The Color Purple “Molly… you in danger, girl”

Ali D

Also, Casablanca will not do this to you. It has it’s own merits but there’s no need to fear that we’ll put you through something like this again without severe warnings!

Ali D

Please watch War Games! It’s 80s, it’s video games centered, and it’s one of the best Cold War movies around

Robert T. Nickerson

Oh Ashleigh, I’m sorry it upset you so much but I hope as the days have passed you have been able to sit with how much of an amazing movie it is. Ruth tends to be the real tipping point for most people! As an aside, in the book, Ninny is definitely not Idgie, but they definitely made you think she was in this movie.

Ali D

I voted Casablanca because I never saw Fried Green Tomatoes. But now I’m glad it was Fried Green Tomatoes.

Ian Jones

First reaction to seeing the title: “oh… oh no. She’s not ready for this”. Glad you got through it, it’s a tough one for a lot of people.

Sarah Doty

Ashleigh, I'm sorry; we couldn't tell you about the emotions, it is part of the movie.

Jack Jones

Always trust your Mama - she knows what's best for you.

T.J. Gengler

I second this.

Andy H.

You need to watch Dolores Claiborne..

Love this movie.

And yes I will update the thumbnail and description and title but I wanted to share it to you guys first!
