+1 for Oh Brother, Where art Thou. A modern retelling of Homer's Odyssey, with George Clooney, John Torturro, and some great music.

I saw it when it was relased. Thought it was a great movie. But now it's not that great. Some good stuff in it. Not like I remembered. I guess it was the time it was made.

The reason he used those scissor/tweezers to smoke is because a home rolled joint is often full from end to end. There's no built in filter, and if you include a home made one, it's usually just a small piece of cardboard. Without tweezers you wouldn't be able to smoke the entire thing without burning your fingers, as the flame will burn all the way from end to end. TL/DR The scissor/tweezers let you smoke more of the joint without burning your fingers

Joseph Ricks

Fargo and oh Brother where art thou are also great movies from the Coen brothers

Jason Nunez

You were singing along during one of the Dude's flashback scenes to "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)". Did you know that Kenny Rogers was the singer?

Thomas Ivie

Jeff bridges has Always had cool hair...even going way back to his 1976 King Kong and Jessica Lange days....

WEEZER MANN

Great suspense movie suggestions...some other great suspense movies are "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three"(1974), "Marathon Man"(1976) and "Breakdown"(1997)

Paul Johnson

Great reaction...I never really could get into this movie but I love all the actors and a few other Coen bros. movies("Blood Simple", "Fargo" and "No Country for Old Men")...but yeah could never get into the vibe and I was a devil's lettuce smoker when I 1st saw it...a great older movie with Jeff Bridges is "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" co-starring Clint Eastwood...Sam Elliott and Ben Gazzara(who played Jackie Treehorn)are both in "Road House"(1989) with Patrick Swayze...oh and "thigh tickler"? Definitely needed a coffee warning for that one! Hope you had a gloriously fun time in Cancun! :)

Paul Johnson

Your review is how I also feel about this movie. The first time I saw it was about 15 years ago and I didn't like it. I watched it again about 10 years later thinking maybe I'd feel differently. I still didn't like it. I'm excited for Smoky and the Bandit though! I was probably a teenager the last time I saw that movie and I'm looking forward to doing the watch along to see how I react watching as an adult.

hi. in case she didn't know, this movie is made buy the guys who did Raising Arizona. I love the Cohen Brothers. but I'd highly recommend Fargo(1996) which is way way better than this one. in my opinion.

Ashleigh, paraquat was an herbicide used by the government on crops of Mexican marijuana back in the 1970's. Calling him a Human Paraquat was a way of calling him a buzzkill. Fun fact, that line was ad libbed by Jeff Bridges and was not in the script.

Andy H.

Jeff Bridges (The Dude) played Obadiah Stane in Iron Man. Looks REALLY different without hair, huh? *L* I liked the movie, but you're right, it isn't for everyone. Love the review, take care!

Now listen, as much as I love your reactions Ash, this was my response to the video once we got to the end with Beans. “This has got to be the most boring reaction I’ve seen from her.” 🤣🤣🤣 Not mad about it. I know June will have even better movies to commentate on. Let’s get it! Waiting on that long awaited Tremors review, and here’s to hoping that you get to suspense thrillers like Cape Fear and The Good Son. Just for fun.

Gio Vidrio

I second O Brother. Great movie.

Gryff

I think Gettysburg would kill her. 4 hours 31 minutes might be a bit much if you're not a history buff.

This is by Joel and Ethan Coen, the same writer/directors as Raising Arizona. Recurring jokes or dialogue is a staple of their movies. Lebowski is very good, IMO, although the cult reputation is a little out-of-proportion, and I think Lebowski tends to play better on repeat viewings where the viewer eases into the movie's drifting, stoner groove. There's another movie by the Coens I hope you watch someday, but it's not the two most people would suggest (O Brother and Fargo), so it probably wouldn't win a poll... someone will have to request it.

Tyler Foster

If you are looking for a Sam Elliott movie, Tombstone, Gettysburg and Road House should be on your list!😁 Also Time Bandits!🤣

Ullatec

3/5 stars is fair. I had the same reaction that you did. Great actors, some good scenes, but it all in all I’ve never gotten the hype. I feel the same way about Napoleon Dynamite.

Michael Waldrep

I've been requesting Time Bandits for a while. Technically not a Python movie though there are members in the movie. Is the funniest movie ever, I agree.

Bill Bevins

One of my favorite movies ever. I have it on DVD so will do the watchalong later. The Dude abides.

Bill Bevins

My son has the movie poster in his room and this is the closest I've ever come to seeing it. I do know the reference, however when my son says, "Shut the fuck up, Donnie." or "I hate the fucking Eagles." PS - TIME BANDITS, best Monty Python movie ever.
