I was like "WAIT A MINUTE!!, the extended cut doesn't have the scene where they are training to withstand tear gas in a hut and the guy who does drugs is the last one out"... but maybe I'm thinking of Police Academy???? anyone??? Also... Ashleigh should watch Police Academy, at least the first ones...

Moni Castaneda

All great suggestions. I got ripped last week for suggesting The Great Escape. People think Ashleigh wouldn't like it but she liked The Shawshank Redemption and this movie is a lot like that one. Steven King even borrowed the idea for dirt removal from it. The pacing is the same as Shawshank and the characters are likable.

I think Officer and a Gentleman would be a good choice, romance in a military-themed setting with an iconic drill sergeant and an often replicated scene in pop culture.

If you want some Army movies for July, like for Independence Day: Private Benjamin. Kelly's Heroes. The Dirty Dozen. M*A*S*H And if you want more Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds is maybe my second-favorite of his movies.

Kevin Mowery

Haha, hilarious!

Anyone suggest Private Benjamin yet? Great Goldie Hawn movie...

Just Paul!

I love when these come out on weekends where my wife works. I just sit here and watch along and find myself answering Ashleigh's questions out loud like I'm some kind of psycho. "What is KP?" "That's Kitchen Patrol, in a lot of 70s and 80s military movies it's used for punishment it was basically peeling potatoes and cleaning pots"...etc.etc. Nobody here to hear. I showed movies like this to my kids when they were teenagers (they're all in their middle to late 20s now) and would answer the exact same questions so it' s like a reflex.

A Fish Called Wanda does not have an alternate cut.

I hope you do the regular theatrical cut for A Fish Called Wanda because I have it on DVD.

You can rent the Extended Cut on Amazon Prime for $3.99.
