EARLY ACCESS: Iron Man

Comments

I searched Beans Nation (with and without the space in-between) yesterday night and didn't find it. If you can send an invite link, I definitely have some Discord experience.

Tyler Foster

It's open. Hoping that someone who has the skills can assist in its development.

Two Cents Magoo

Yes, please.

Tyler Foster

Thank you for watching Iron Man! I am a total nerd but my parents are not. They have only ever seen one Thor movie because they watched it with the grandkids. We watched Iron Man before watching your reaction and they loved it! And were asking a bunch of questions, including “what other Marvel movies do you have?” 😃 Although 23 is a lot of movies, I am giving them an abbreviated list. I went through and took out 11 or so of them that really aren’t necessary to follow the grand storyline of The Avengers and Thanos. You might lose little Easter Eggs and blink-or-you’ll-miss-it references, but I can always fill them in on those to keep them interested. They would never sit through the entire catalog!

Heather Qualy

BeansNation is live on DISCORD. Who wants the link?

Two Cents Magoo

Better than 21!

4 people disagreeing with you is hardly assault. Add in to it the fact that you made your post in the form of a question; you had to expect replies.

Kenton Kruger

She did, she wasn't impressed to say the least lol

Michael Johnson

she did last hallobeans

YOU NEED TO WATCH BEETLEJUICE. ITS A MUST. Classic movie from the late 80s.

Found this googling around thought it might be helpful. https://imgur.com/AhVI5qC

The man you thought was Hugh Hefner was in fact Stan Lee. He's the man who created the marvel universe, it was his characters and animation.

Going to enjoy going through these movies with you. As one would expect they have their ups and downs but the overall quality is very good.

Todd Bradford

Huh?!?

Mark Sylvester

I watched WandaVision even though the only MCU movie I've seen is Gardians of the Galaxy. I have a teeny smidgen of MCU knowledge from general pop culture and I still was able to follow WandaVision and enjoy it. It didn't make me want dive deeper into the MCU though. Maybe someday. Maybe your journey will inspire me. Glad you enjoyed Iron Man. RDJ is a cutie. ❤

Lynnetta

Let’s just kick back and watch Ashleigh go on this MCU journey. I realize those movies are not everyone’s cup of tea, but let’s respect what she chooses, and just go along for the ride! I just finished the Watch-a-Long and she made it very entertaining!

Note to self never comment on this site because you'll get assaulted by 20 people

Joseph Burt

Oh fuck, time for 20+ episodes of Marvel content!

Sunny Biscuit

Fun (with a young) RDJ movies are: Chances Are, Heart and Souls, and Soapdish

Melissa

Oh man. You are starting a journey that will be so much fun.

Adolfo Acosta

So Happy you liked it. There are some lower points but still fun. And that’s Gwyneth Paltrow. One of my favorites.

Robert Gruhn

Who was the guy at the end? Can’t wait for you to do “Pulp Fiction”!

Ian Jones

Agreed. I don't have much use for Gwenyth Paltrow in general, but she is amazing as Pepper Potts.

Thomas Yanez

also Ashleigh before i forget. The guy who played "Heff" is Stan Lee co creator of a whole lot Marvel characters along with Jack Kirby. Stan Lee has a cameo is every Marvel movie up unto his death in 2018.

Bleedingreen

Just like any movie franchise you will have your hits and your misses. The MCU has had its share of both to certain degrees, but each film is enjoyable on its own. Just keep in mind that each movie is but a chapter in greater whole and you won't be disappointed. The first five Spiderman movies were productions solely in the hands of Sony with largely no involvement from Marvel and are technically not part of the MCU, but with future movies that will explore the Marvel multiverse, that could easily change. The MCU actually almost lost Spiderman last year because Sony, the rights holder, and Marvel could not come to an equitable profit-sharing agreement to continue the character's involvement.

Alexander Fish

Excited for you to join the MC fandom!

Dennis Canright

I honestly believe that Iron Man's casting was one of the things that really set the MCU's foundation. Not only RDJ, but Gwenyth Paltrow, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Bettany, and the rest also knock their respective roles out of the park.

Snow Goon

Arguably the best movie to start with, since it was the first one released in the MCU.

Thomas Yanez

A good movie to start your journey into the Marvel Universe with.

Michael Waldrep

The guy at the end was Samuel L. Jackson. You know, in every movie ever made, he's the black guy. I Always thought Spiderman with Tobey Maguire was the start of the MCU. This movie is great as is the sequel. Iron Man 3 was terrible. That movie along with the bad reboot of Spiderman in 2012 made me give up on the MCU. That might be on me, though, as I was dealing with cancer at the time and I didn't really like anything (cancer free now). I haven't seen any of the movies after IM3 so if Ashleigh is going down that rabbit hole, I'll come along for the ride.

Bill Bevins

YAAASSS!!! I was SO waiting for you to begin this journey!!! To be honest, when this movie first came out, I considered Iron Man a B-list hero in the comics. Just goes to show how a great director, and a great leading man, and a half-finished script, can lead to awesomeness. I hope you love the MCU, but I have the feeling you're gonna be very satisfied. :) Thanks so much, Ashley, I really love your reviews! Take good care, and be safe!

Michael Sailor

I wondered if that was the reasoning behind it

Joseph Burt

She said in the Live that The Big Lebowski is coming next month!

Tyler Foster

Iron Man (2008) is the first film that was made. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) technically comes fourth going in the order the movies were made (which is not chronological in-universe, but is chronological in terms of the storytelling), following The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Thor (2011).

Tyler Foster

13 years and that Nick Fury tag is my favourite thing from all the movies.

Did you recognize Jeff bridges? And I think the big boss in the cave at the beginning was the captain of the Kelvin in the 2009 Star Trek which I loved and wanted to watch it back to back in the theatre. Also, “Hugh Hefner” was actually Stan Lee, one of the creators of the marvel comics. Be sure to hang out during the end credits for the vignettes.

I am confused as why he started you here and not with Captain America, the First Avenger

Joseph Burt

A couple of other examples of pre-MCU movies based on Marvel properties : "Blade" and it's sequels and the gloriously shitty "Howard the Duck".

Thomas Yanez

I am so happy that you are doing this. The MCU has been a fixture through my late childhood and into my adult life, and it's going to be so much fun watching all of these with you and seeing you experience them for the first time! You're gonna love it!

Jennifer

That guy who says, "I'm not Tony Stark" when Obadiah yells at him? That's Ralphie from A Christmas Story, a longtime friend of director Jon Favreau (who also plays Happy Hogan in the movie).

Tyler Foster

“Are all the marvel movies like this dark and sad?” Just you wait Ash, just you wait.

Gio Vidrio

Your coworker is correct and incorrect. There's actually a ton of movies based on Marvel properties before this one (three Spider-Man movies, three X-Men movies, three Fantastic Fours -- including one that was never released!, two Punishers, a Daredevil and a spin-off, a Hulk, an extremely bad Captain America movie, and more), but this IS the start of the MCU, and I don't think you'll end up needing to go back further.

Tyler Foster

Had some YouTube upload issues and lost power this morning for a bit due to a thunderstorm BUT HERE WE GO
