I'm BAAAAACK

Hiii yes HELLOOOO.

I'm back from visiting family and it was so great to go see them all.  My cousins are getting sooo big; my grandparents are still trucking (granted one had knee replacement and my other one had hip replacement), but all is well in West Tennessee.  I hadn't been home or seen them all since November so it was a trip most needed!

I did come back to some concerning messages regarding some patrons being buttholes in the comments.  I'll be honest, I haven't checked yet as I type this but I will be keeping a closer eye on things sine hearing this.

You don't have to agree about movies - but you can't be an asshat, ok? What do we say - opinions are like assholes and everyone has one.  The cool thing - you don't have to ACT like one. 😎

Comments

Field of Dreams, Sin City, Rudy, Breaker Morant, The Right Stuff, Biloxi Blues.

BeansNation is live on Discord. Should it be open or invite only?

Two Cents Magoo

Aww that's too bad I always liked him he always came across as a easygoing and whimsical in most of his roles but could also hold his own dramatically as he did opposite Burton in "Virginia Woolf"...may he RIP

Paul Johnson

SILVERADO is fine, PALE RIDER is better IMHO. "There's nothing like a good piece of hickory."

T.J. Gengler

Actually, I was saying it's more likely she'd find the less-popular, newer version online.

Tyler Foster

I've spent ten years fighting the Physical vs. Digital wars (which, btw, Physical won, but those celebrations got swept under by studios' sudden new distraction with Streaming's popularity), but in Warriors: the Theatrical Cut's case, I think we can say it's a GOOD thing that most reactors only get their movies from digital/streaming. Unless someone mailed Ash a copy in the last unboxing.

Eric Janssen

Yeah somebody had said they set up a discord and a reddit page, but I couldn't figure out either (might be my low tech skills though).

Kenton Kruger

Welcome to the pack fraddit!!

Mark Sylvester

I like the idea of having a place to make suggestions and have them voted on. Then we don't have to wonder if we should mention our suggestions again as the post move up. I don't want to keep suggesting a movie if I am the only one on board with it. Good idea Kristen! And Tyler has Ashleigh given any feedback on the Discord thing? I have seen it suggested multiple time maybe by you but haven't seen a response from her. But I may have missed it.

Mark Sylvester

@Kristen if she ever decides to set up a Discord, there could be a channel where all you do is vote, and it could have an unlimited number of movies suggested in it.

Tyler Foster

Only thing to watch out for with The Warriors is that she should track down the original NON-director's cut of the movie, which is available on digital services and an out-of-print DVD, but is harder to locate. Sometime in the 2000s, Walter Hill "updated" the movie with computer generated comic book panel transitions, which most fans of the film seem to hate (I think they might have worked a little better if they had actually hired a real artist to design and paint them). Wouldn't want another Mad Mad Mad Mad World scenario.

Tyler Foster

Just "lightening things up"..........he he......bad dad joke

Candace Anderson

Hi Ashleigh! I've loved your channel for months and just became a patron. I'd like to suggest Silverado (1985) for an eventual watching.

Big thumbs up on The Warriors. Not least because it still gets reffed. I think it would be handy to have a designated recommendations thread somewhere, that was just movies and then people voting with likes. So we don't keep getting the same ones in every single thread, regardless of topic, for her to try to keep track of.

Kristen North

I saw some of the fallout but the posts were already deleted. Like there were actual "post deleted" bits in the thread.

Kristen North

We've been through the Essential 80's classics on the Reactor-verse, and now it's time for some 70's Gold...Can you DIG IT?? (And if she likes Michael Beck, I've got a nice roller-skating musical for her to check out...) As for Ash’s unsuccessful reactions, it was fun to see her stick it to E.T. and Meaning of Life (the latter got a “Yes, YES!” fist pump), but like many of us, I’ve been there and felt her Mad, Mad World pain. We did our best to warn her. :(

Eric Janssen

I've brought up the AFI list a couple times, with qualifications. I love that they take into account a film's general impact on pop culture and the movie industry, not just its quality. So Jaws is ranked very high. But some of those dramas are not reaction fodder. They're worth watching, but not reacting to. And I love all three of your recommendations!

Kristen North

**high five**

Thomas Yanez

Holy shit, that's a reference. Now it is in my head.

Thomas Yanez

Maybe it’s me, but I thought this was where patreons can suggest their (important note “their) favorite movies for her to react to and she ultimately decides. There will always be someone who will not like a movie that is suggested by someone. Who cares? The reason to watch is Ashleigh’s reaction to it and the reactions to films she doesn’t like are HILARIOUS! Just because you are not fond of a movie recommendation does not mean it’s a film not worthy of being selected. What l see here are individuals trying to influence her selection. Nothing wrong with that, but try doing it by positively promoting your suggestions, not by panning the suggestions of others. More positive on this page, less negative. Now that’s out of the way, 1979 “The Warriors” please 😁

Hey Ash, do you prefer we wait until after you have seen the movie before we start debating it’s merits/whether we like it or not?

thescourge

—— previous comment deleted because I just got up to near the top of the comments and found Ash herself had clarified perfectly well and I don’t need to be saying anything on this topic ——

thescourge

Are you guys trying to send Ashleigh into burnout?

Mark Sylvester

That would work for me. One to watch during dinner and then one to watch before bed.

Thomas Yanez

There's a difference between naming great movies from the 80's, and thinking that the ENTIRE 80's consisted of Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, The Thing, The Breakfast Club and The Princess Bride. The next year should be interesting for other Reactors, when the "Usual" lists are spent out--plus the "You have to see every other film the director made!" loyalty-followups--and its us movie-vets who have to start calling the shots.

Eric Janssen

We need two movies a day.....Im just saying.......Make mondays something special....but we need two movies a day at least :-)

Gary Kuhre

Awwww, I hadn't heard about Segal yet. I think I'ma go pouty watch "The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox".

Thomas Yanez

I would add "Rollercoaster" to the list of suggestions, that's a great entertaining movie that hasn't aged a lot since 1978...

Manuel Johnen

With the sad passing of George Segal perhaps a few of his films should be in the mix. His Oscar nomination was for Mike Nichols's 1966 adaptation of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf." It is a great filming of a great play, and all four principals were nominated, with two winning: Elizabeth Taylor, Best Actress; Sandy Dennis, Best Supporting Actress. "No Way to Treat a Lady"(1968) is a detective thriller. Segal plays the detective on the case, and Rod Steiger, in one of his invariably excellent performances, plays the murderer Segal is trying to find. "The Hot Rock"(1972) is a fun, heist comedy. As well as Segal it stars Robert Redford, Ron Liebman, Paul Sand, Moses Gunn, and the great Zero Mostel. "A Touch of Class"(1973) is a romantic comedy with the marvelous Glenda Jackson. Segal won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. Any one of these will well reward viewing, but "Virginia Woolf" is the most significant of them. "...Virginia Woolf" is one of only two films to be nominated in every eligible category at the Academy Awards. Each of the four actors was nominated for an Oscar but only Elizabeth Taylor and Sandy Dennis won, respectively for Best Actress and Supporting Actress. The film also won the Black and White Cinematography award for Haskell Wexler's stark, black-and-white camera work (it was the last film to win before the category was eliminated), Best Costume Design and for Best Art Direction (Richard Sylbert, George James Hopkins). It was the first film to have its entire credited cast be nominated for acting Oscars, a feat only accomplished two other times, with Sleuth in 1972 and Give 'em Hell, Harry! in 1975. In 2013, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Elliot Nesterman

I LIKED The Gods Must Be Crazy...But it only showed up on Hubbens' recommendation, because no Millennial fan remembered it from the 80's, which is why no other reactor's done it. A few months from now, most of the usual suspects will have exhausted the limited Millennial catalog (including Marvel and Tolkien), and...it's a good opportunity for some creative poll picks, for those who want to explore new territory.

Eric Janssen

I agree, but its not her fault. She gets bad info sometimes and since she has never seen the movies, ... well. Of course, there was that one... "The Gods must be crazy"... it was brutal. ...and i swore years ago i would never watch it again! Lol. I do think most of the picks have been pretty good. And i always enjoy her quarky witt.

ROG

LMAO.... I totally can relate

ROG

One of the main reasons that I've stopped posting on your pages... meh there's always that one family member who is never invited 🤭 but they just show up anyways 🤷🙄😏🙈

Danika Silva

I think there is a proper balance between encouraging her to watch things that will expand her horizons, and subjecting her to stuff that there's literally no evidence she'll enjoy. Personally, I got a lot of joy out of watching her enjoy a movie. I'm a big movie guy, I've been writing reviews, both online and offline for almost 20 years. I find the two reactors that I watch, Ashleigh and one other, to be an antidote to the possibility of becoming cynical about movies. Watching her watch great movies is a reminder of what makes watching movies great in the first place. In general, this is the sort of feeling that I hope the suggestions that I have offered inspire. There definitely tough watches that I think are great, and that any film fan should make an effort to see, but if Ashleigh were somebody I was friends with in my personal life, I would also still curate the things that I recommended to her based on her taste.

Tyler Foster

Is it important that she HAS to enjoy a movie? Again, I don't really care which movies are selected for an reaction video, but is the most important criteria that it has to be a feelgood movie that she's probably gonna like...?

Manuel Johnen

@Thomas: That's actually part of my point. She hasn't really watched any movies that I would consider mean-spirited, which is why I find some of the recommendations strange. I'm not going to name any of them by name, because that goes against the philosophy I just expressed, but even though many of these movies are objectively popular and well-known, I do wonder what it is about the videos so far and the taste that Ashleigh has expressed within them make people think she would enjoy those movies. To give an example that I have NOT seen suggested (and if anyone has suggested it, my apologies!), imagine someone recommending her the Saw or Hostel movies. Those were both popular, and maybe people just want to see how she would react to them, but I also think it's safe to expect that she would not enjoy watching them (and of course it's a strange position for her to be in, because part of the whole premise here is that she doesn't know what the movies are about, so in theory she doesn't have any idea what she's getting into when people suggest these things).

Tyler Foster

Unfortunately, "Mean-spirited" 90's/00's cult movies are the only ones most of them have SEEN, which is why the same fans try to canvas every single YT Reactor with them. Put part of that down to movies vanishing off of TV—and if we can now choose any movie we want to see, we can only see the culty titles we’ve heard of or our friends have told us to watch—and put part of that down to good old Millennial puberty: At a certain age, you want movies to get your adrenaline flowing in the form of emotions, but Emotions Aren’t Cool, unless you’re laughing, scared, on a thrill ride, or shocking the teacher. Which is why you rarely see drama recommended (unless it’s a Great Picture they saw by accident, like Forrest Gump, Schindler or Shawshank, in which case it’s THE Greatest Movie Ever Made), and the cult titles tend to fall into Comedy, Horror, Action, or Shocking. "Can you give me an example?"--Okay, do you think a "Disney Princess" fan WANTS to watch Hot Fuzz?? We’re here to open the rental counters back up, one movie and Millennial at a time. :)

Eric Janssen

This right here

Ken

Ashleigh herself has described her "MO" as "Disney princess movies" and that she's enjoying expanding her horizons. Just curious, can you give some examples of what you consider "mean-spirited movies" from the movies she's watched so far?

Thomas Yanez

That's what I do. People send her or recommend movies that make me scratch my head (mostly really mean-spirited movies -- not something that seems to fit Ashleigh's MO). But what do I know, maybe she'll like them. Plus, even if she does watch them, most of them will still have to win a poll or two to actually get in the rotation.

Tyler Foster

I'm pretty sure (despite a another patron's post) she doesn't have a problem with you having, or expressing, your opinion about a movie she watched in the form "well I think that movie sucks". And, I'm pretty sure that it is "well YOU suck" (or any other variation) that either directly, or indirectly, aims an insult at a fellow patron that is at issue here. I don't pay attention to names much, so I don't know if you were being accused of doing this, or have been guilty of it, so don't jump on that. Unless I'm mistaken, we're here to experience and comment on Ashleigh's reactions, and to some degree, Ashleigh herself, not to judge or attack other patrons.

Thomas Yanez

It's the difference between generally commenting that you dislike a movie and going out of your way to tell someone else who has suggested a movie they love that the movie is bad. And honestly, is it that important to say whether or not you think a movie is bad? I flagged a single film suggested in the live because it was made by a convicted child molester (as in, the person who directed it did so after being let out of prison!), but other than that, I would rather encourage Ashleigh to see movies I love and hope she will love than question or criticize other people's suggestions.

Tyler Foster

Mama Keeps Whites Bright Like the Sunshine, Mama's got the magic of Clorox 2.

Candace Anderson

She's talking about interpersonal relationships, not opinions. This is just a general example, not intended to be based on you or anyone else's behavior, but there's a difference between someone commenting "I didn't like this movie," and, say, someone saying "I liked this movie" and someone else replying, to that very person, "well, I think it sucks."

Tyler Foster

Looking at these comments, a fair number of "who cares what other people think!"/"Don't bother caring about people's feelings!"- style comments, all of which are directed at the idea that Ashleigh had her feelings hurt. Consider, if you reread her comments here, she is explicitly telling you to care about other people's feelings and be nice to each other, because it's other fans of hers whose feelings have been hurt, not hers. "F 'em if they can't take a joke!" and other forms of defiant independence might sound encouraging on paper, but if Ashleigh is calling for kindness and unity, then those two philosophies are actually opposites.

Tyler Foster

(D's husband here). So my takeaway from all this is simple: an Asshat is basically the current term for butthead.

ChickensAreRacist

"We're talking film connoisseur level ego up in here." Weird, I don't get this at all...

Manuel Johnen

Seems I've missed all the drama but one thing I'm picking up on while sifting through all these comments is that the amount of ego is off the charts. We're talking film connoisseur level ego up in here. Been here for a few months and I haven't been aware of any bullying or people being shitty but if its happening then Kudos for calling it out.

Gaz

Awesome

Kristofer Foster

I don’t know, I’ve felt nothing but support from this community. You guys are way!

Kristofer Foster

Actually, I am very interested in your opinion... what do you like about Beans the most?

Thomas Yanez

Parenthood has such a phenomenal cast. I ❤️ Dianne Weist.

Kate Cassidy

Sounds like you had a great visit!

Snow Goon

I just here for Beans. And Ashleigh. I don’t comment 99% of the time because who cares about my opinion? Certainly not all of you - people who don’t know me. I rarely read comments so I definitely missed the kerfluffle.

Amy Silknitter

Been a fan of that film since I watched it in the cinema

Michael Johnson

Wow I've obviously missed all the excitement lol

Michael Johnson

Riiiiight.

Thomas Yanez

I hope you put Parenthood on your list, I think you might like that or Mr. Mom.

Christy

Okay, now that that is all over..... Who else besides me is really looking forward to Ashleigh's reaction to What About Bob in a couple days?

Tony Williams

LOL I have no idea, Andy. I missed the kerfuffle and probably won't go and look.

Arki Kali

Wow, I just became a Patreon today to support Ashleigh and Beans and I see all of this. This is why I took Twitter and Facebook off my phones.

Rich Wagener

We're not asshats if we root for one movie and diss the other--Although we do, however, have ONE A-hat who lives to play the Wounded Fangirl on the Internet, and mercilessly taunt, hound, shame and net-stalk his/her mean detractors on the thread for their Mean, Nasty Disagreements, but that's the lone exception, as I would assume every Patreon regular has...Like Bill Cosby said, they put a nut in every car. The rest of us are here for Ash and the movies, and if we have an outspoken host, we're going to follow suit, but it's all in good sport and healthy competition.

Eric Janssen

It's a sad day when you have to moderate effing Patreon. Jesus, people (to whoever was showing their ass). Just be nice. Not everything's gotta be a fight.

Arki Kali

There was a time where it was me and Ashleigh and like 2 other people, and I was the internet bouncer for her, glad those days are behind us and you’re the bouncers and I’m the cooler!! IYKYK ❤️😂

Freddy Spence

Probably. 🤣

ROG

Haaaaaaaa.

Brandon Portell

CLARIFICATION!!! We can have the conversation all day long!! Tell me you don't like a movie, do like a movie, don't agree with me, do agree, etc. I'm ALLLLL here for the conversation because I like listening to why you like things and don't like things. I just meant - make sure you're being nice to others! ☺️ At the end of the day, this is the internet, and like my grandma says "you can get glad in the same pants you got pissed off in" 😂😂

Ashleigh Burton

We live in a time where if you LOOK at someone wrong, there are consequences. Thinnest skin we've ever had as a society. People call anything "bullying" now. Because that word MUST be taken seriously.

Brandon Portell

Oompa Loompas I’m dead. 😂😂

Gio Vidrio

oh yeah! conversations are totally welcome! Just meant - I've gotten complaints about people being rude. Just a reminder to everyone to be nice!

Ashleigh Burton

Good for you. Keep up the good work.

ROG

MADE IT!

Ashleigh Burton

HIIII thank you ❤️

Ashleigh Burton

Well said Bill! You’d think they have more fun commenting on YouTube instead of here.

Gio Vidrio

oh this wasn't about shitting on movies that are picked - my feelings aren't hurt at all! I've just gotten some messages from other patrons saying they have been bullied and I was just reminding everyone to be kind. After all - this is the internet! That's all! I love seeing the community that is here and everyone sharing memories about the movies, whether they liked it or not. My feelings have yet to be hurt by anything!

Ashleigh Burton

And to put a much more succinct and less delicate spin on Kritikilthynkr's wonderful post, I simply offer the birth of the critic. (from History Of The World) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjRrISX33hY

T.J. Gengler

Yea... what he said! Just to add... i joined this Patreon and subscribed to Ashleighs videos because i enjoy them, and her honest reactions. I didnt join for the choice of movies.

ROG

Dear Ashleigh, Stop defending yourself and let the haters hate on you because if you gave them a thousand dollars they would yell at you for not giving 1001.00. You can't make everyone here happy, all you can do is commit to your art and passion, only for you, DO NOT DO THIS FOR OTHERS OPINIONS because there are to many. I am a writer. Professionally. If I wrote according to what people thought or their feelings or education level, I would be writing books for no one. I have to write book I like then people like me, people who like what I like will return. If you find that just because a movie, no matter how popular, isn't for you then you aren't alone. But there are a lot of people who equate what they love as part of who they are despite being not actually true. They are substituting a lack of something substantial and placing importance on something that doesn't ultimately matter at all. Neither the movie, nor their opinion. My opinion doesn't matter. No one on Patreon's opinion means anything but the truth is, people forget that the moment they hear you not like something or criticize what they feel is their identity. They aren't always aware, some think they are speaking to you that way to either educate you or to punish you with their superiority. These people had shit childhoods, shit parents, and are so insecure that they have nothing better to do then tell someone else how to feel. No one has a right to tell you how you feel or that you are wrong for feeling anything at all and when they get mad, don't read, don't pay attention 'cause those are losers. LOOOOOOOOOSERS. People who get mad over other people's opinions on TV shows and movies and comic books rather than just realize we don't all share the same taste and generally someone who thinks the MCU is cinematic art is under educated. The Godfather is art. Iron Man is fluff. But there is value in both and when someone decides to attack you online for not liking their movie whether an Academy Award winning movie starring, written by, and directed by the most famous and highly praised actors of their generation and then there is Chris Pratt. Both are entertaining, both are fine, but essentially one is Stairway to Heaven and the other Britney Spears but either way, it's wrong for others to tell you that your feelings and opinions have no value on your page. If they do not believe you have value, why they are they so threatened and butt hurt and have to lash out or act like they are better than you in some way just because of your taste in movies. These people don't realize it but they think you're bashing them. Keep this in mind. Because they think it is all about them and because they are overly feeling and reacting poorly, they still aren't aware of what they are doing. They are caught up in feeling injured because they lack the security in themselves to not have a movie be their identity so when you don't like that movie, if they had confidence, wouldn't be bothered and would respect you going forward or decide you and your channel aren't for them like actual adults. That isn't America anymore. Now it is, "ME ME ME ME ME ME" and if you don't agree with me I'll threaten you or call you names or liar or...all the ways we are now trained to make our feelings and interests more important than anyone elses which is why we are a nation of Karens. My advice to to you is, it's okay to let people yell but you don't have to listen or stand there and with those people who get mad over movies, comic books, tv, etc, you can't talk to them or change their mind they will only double down that everything you say proves you are wrong so let people say their hate, try to learn to not read it or let it hurt you cause it isn't really about you, it's a description of their character and the lack of good parenting they received to think their entitlted to trash someone else for the sake of making themselves feel better cause you had the audacity to not like something they do. Those people are bullies who in real life know they don't posses the power somewhere else in their life where they with she did so instead they take it out on you to use their "cultured point of view" as a way of beating up others since they are probably being beaten up or have been physically or particularly, emotionally. These people can't be talked to and telling them to be polite will never work, they don't think they are rude. So, dump them, ban them, ignore them and take their money but whatever you do, remember, you can't argue because you can't win against them because they wont let you, they don't want to hear you say anything other than you agree and validate them so these people seeking your validation are broken and you aren't responsible for others feelings or over sensitive hurt butts nor do you need to make their issues your problem or please everyone. Just make videos you like. Keep the site the way you like it. Take in directions you want and those who don't like it need to stop wasting time and money on a reactor that isn't for them and go find one who is so you don't need to be a piece of shit and you can sit and listen to all of the people who agree with you until you pop since you're to childish to maturely handle anyone else's point of view. America. Land of the "You Hurt My Feeewlings" Fuck 'em. Do you're thing cause you're doing it great, You're getting better and better, your confidence and knowledge growing. You're entertaining and becoming a friend we look forward to and no, I don't agree with you often but I have respect for people and no how to behave socially unlike the Cluster B's that dominate the internet. You're fantastic, don't let anyone with no life bring you down or they win. Ignore and focus on those who appreciate you and appreciate them, focus on them because they are your audience and the rest are just mosquito's.

Jason L

Ooooooooh! Y'all got in trouble! lol

Sneakypreacher

People on Patreon are pretty cool. Ashleigh is on multiple formats so it might be on another one. Folks on Faceebook are nice too. But I think it's the commentators on Youtube that can be trolls. There was one guy there accusing us older male subscribers of being stalkers because we are being supportive of Ashleigh's channel. When I engaged with him to tell him he's wrong, he called me a pervert. Luckily Ashleigh blocked his ass fairly quickly.

Bill Bevins

Have any conversation you like. You hardly need my permision to do so. It just seems odd to me to be the first person to mention a given film for no other reason than to say that no one should watch it because it sucks. I'd rather hear about movies you do like, that you consider to be worthy of my time. Other people will weigh in either supporting or opposing your view and the independent reader will make up there own, individual minds about what's best for them. That's a discussion that I would consider worthwhile for my own personal time and effort. STARTING a discussion on a specific film about why it's unworthy of my time is in and of itself unworthy and I have to wonder what your goal might be.

T.J. Gengler

We watch your reactions because they're real. I would be suspicious that you were just trying to get more subscribers, if you liked all the movies you watched.

Michael Waldrep

Welcome back! I'm glad you had a nice trip!!

Lynnetta

I was honestly worried that maybe you didn't make it home

Jay McIntyre

So what you're saying... is that sometimes... things get..... "Lost in Translation"...? 😁😉

Brandon Portell

Truth.

Brandon Portell

Oh Miss Ashleigh, regarding opinions I've always heard they were like elbow's and assholes, everyone has one 😉😂 I've in the past noticed that comedy can be difficult via text for some. sometimes flolks just try'n to be funny 💙🤗😊😂

Ken - Kendo161

Sorry Andy, not gonna fly. EVERY movie is somebody's favorite. You may not add the salesman's pitch but someone will. That's not even considering the people who don't really have any other goals than to stir the pot.

T.J. Gengler

Haaaaaaa. Now THIS idea, I love. THE NOTEBOOK!!! *ducks for cover*

Brandon Portell

Lol... that may be easier..

ROG

Why?

Manuel Johnen

Thanks Mr. Magoo. Im sure Ashleigh and the rest of us are happy to finally get your blessing to start kicking people out. So glad you were elected to Troll police... oh wait! No such thing. Unfortunately everyone that is being read has the right to voice their opinions. They pay for that right. Yes, Ashleigh can police and delete posts or people that she deems inappropriate if she wants... but really.. who has the time for that. Sometimes you just have to ignore the things you disagree with... even the petty stuff like this. I mean honestly... were talking about picks for a movie reaction! I agree with Tony Hertz... and love renting his cars too... thanks Tony. Dont forget about freedom of speech! Let the Haters Hate.

ROG

I do find this baffling, too... I only watch her reactions for my personal entertainment, I really don't care much if I like the movie or not... or if she likes it or not... :P

Manuel Johnen

Glad everyone was good in Tennessee, have no idea why anyone gets invested in flicks other people made. Unless you have Mel Brooks or the like leaving salty comments it just doesn't mak sense.

I just don’t get people. There are literally millions of movies out there and no one is going to like every one suggested. Ashleigh puts up polls and takes suggestions and in the end, decides which ones she reacts to. That’s it. I was not personally a fan of Stir Crazy but l loved Ashleigh’s reaction to it. My take on it: suggest your faves to Ashleigh, enjoy the ones she picks to react to but don’t be a jerk to others simply because you didn’t prefer the movie they liked.

Miss Ashleigh, do not hesitate to 86 them if they cross your line. Everyone is free to poop out their opinions on Reddit or, even better, on their OWN channel. FWIW, Mr. Brandon Portell, AFI's various lists are fantastic. Agreed.

Two Cents Magoo

Yeah, there are some arrogant a-holes around that think they are the world's greatest movie critics or some such. I just bite my tongue, roll my eyes, vote in the polls, throw out a recommendation now and then for a flick that I believe ASHLEIGH would enjoy, and wait for the next video to be posted. 99.9% of the folks on this page are great, so the 1 or 2 that seem to use this platform as some kind of ego boost don't really phase me, but I have avoided having much, if any, interactions with them. So I would say to anyone that has felt bullied or belittled by someone with a fevered ego, hang in there and realize most of us will have your back if needed. Peace y'all.

Tony Williams

"We're gonna need a bigger boat."

Mr. Writhms

Maybe it's because I'm battle hardened in terms of discussions on the internet for over twenty years now, but I really don't feel anyone was overtly rude, trolling or acting like an asshat on this patreon yet... ... ... but as I said, maybe that's just my perception... :P

Manuel Johnen

I agree she should look into the movies on that list. Sometimes I will make recommendations based on a movie she just watched, like other movies the actors were in. I also try to recommend movies that she would like. As much as I enjoyed a movie like American History X, I would never recommend that. It's also hard to classify what makes a movie a classic.

Bill Bevins

Brandon this is such a great suggestion, thank you! The AFI list is perfect for her to work with, along with member requests. I personally would love to see reviews on Moonstruck and Tootsie, mainly because I believe that Ashleigh would really enjoy them. Also, They Live, because she likes John Carpenter! But I can be patient, and she will probably get to them, and I will enjoy all of her content until then 😁

People recommend what THEY love. Whether "society" deems it a good film or not. I love Freddy Got Fingered... but I'm not going to RECOMMEND it!!! She'd be so much better off looking at AFI's top 100 list, and sprinkling in movies that MOST consider great. Shawshank.... Stand By Me.... Pulp Fiction.... Meh meh meh world... meh.

To a large degree, I agree with Bill Bevins above. Don't take the bait, don't feed the trolls, just don't. People are gonna be people and that mean that if you get two or more together then at least one of them are going to enjoy making the other feel miserable and diminished. Unless you want to appoint an army of jr mods/oompa loompas to enforce doctrine, I'm not sure what is to be done about it.

This is Ashleigh's site... you chose to subscribe. She honestly doesn't have to cater to your likes or dislikes. If you don't like the movies being chose/reactions/ etc, no one is forcing you to stay. Go start your own.

Are you sure people were being clowns? This is the internet. And everyone knows only polite, thoughtful discussions take place online. At times like these I go by the acronym WWJBD. What Would Jack Burton Do? You people sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we’re not back by dawn… call the president.

I like reacting to your reactions... It's fun to let you - a thinking Millennium - know what I think of your thinking regarding movies... This way, I not only find out how your generation evaluates movies, but you find out how my generation (I was born in 1950) evaluates movies... Good Stuff...

Don't feed the trolls.

Bill Bevins

Hmmm. I didn't see anything like that, hope it wasn't too bad. The only thing I can think of was some patreon members saying things like "I tried warning you" about mad mad world
