EARLY ACCESS: Stir Crazy

EARLY ACCESS: Stir Crazy

One of the best movies of all time!

Candace Anderson

For me it would be "Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling", a partially autobiographical movie that Pryor starred in and directed.

Thomas Yanez

Ftr, my male self saw 9 to 5 two or three times in the theater, because it was FUNNY. (Yes, even with Lily Tomlin being lesbian-snotty about feminist Disney cliche's, but dangit, even that was funny.) Could they make the movie today?--Absolutely not, since female humor lost its sense of Funny, but in my day, junior, you could still make movies with Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman, and let the Foul Play director direct them. And yes, Ash's life is all the emptier without it. :)

Eric Janssen

Also, adding politics into the mix... more politics = more fun, right...? :)

Manuel Johnen

It wS bound to happen manuel. Nothing is perfect forever. With more people comes more views, some not popular, some askew. The more Patrons Ashleigh gets, the more you will see that. Its all part of the net now i guess.

ROG

Ah, accusing strangers on the internet of gaslighting and misogyny and equating simple answers with attacks... lovely... :)

Manuel Johnen

😘

ROG

Im not attacking you Lauren. Dont be so overly emotional. You shouldnt feel affraid to make a comment... nore should you get offended when people reply to your comments. Its not personal... just peoples views and opinions. Take it with a grain of salt.

ROG

Another great female driven movie to add to the list is A League of Their Own! 😀

Lynnetta

Why does it have to be a man-woman thing? Why cant it just be because they have different tastes and dont agree? I think you take too much time looking for issues regarding to men. I thought this movie reactions were supposed to be fun. Dont be so quick to point the finger.

ROG

Lauren, my reading of Kevin's comment is he's wondering if Broadcast News qualifies, given that's the movie in the same sentence. Maybe he needed a paragraph break rather than just a period after the first sentence to make that clearer.

Kenton Kruger

She stated in her reaction to Blazing Saddles that she recognized him from GIFs.

Edward Olson

I agree with you and think 9 to 5 is great! Sorry for the confusion.

Birdie Num Num

9 to 5 is female driven. It’s a feminist movie. It’s story revolves around three women. Period.

Lauren D Martin

Rain Man. You could watch it...on a rainy day?? I guess thats kinda hard to plan.

Matt Dellarosa

True, Pryor's influence on Murphy's career was there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT_z8ClQlK4 ;)

Eric Janssen

And for those saying "You've seen Richard Pryor, now you have to see Brewster's Millions and The Toy!" Maybe on one, and lord-no on the other, but this movie came before Pryor's fire accident and drug rehab, and most of his 80's work (ahemsuperman3) was trying to get away from angry-street humor and make him a bumbling poor-soul...That's not Rich. The last good "old-school" angry Richard Pryor comedy before the Sunset Strip concert was 1981's "Bustin' Loose", and while it's probably not good enough for a reaction, it's worth searching out on folks' own time.

Eric Janssen

"I LOVE Gene Wilder!", yet she'd never seen The Producers, Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein...What does she know him FROM, if she hasn't seen Willy Wonka?? We need to answer this question once and for all!

Eric Janssen

FREE ZITNEY!

Graham Martin

She can watch "The Longest Yard" three times, there is the Burt Reynolds original and then there are two remakes, one with Adam Sandler and one with Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham... :P

Manuel Johnen

LEAVE ZITNEY ALONE!

Manuel Johnen

Both Craig T. Nelson & JoBeth Williams are in this movie and they both were in Poltergeist playing the parents.

Christy

I think she would love 9 to 5. Don't know if it qualifies a female driven, but hope Broadcast News gets in a poll one of these days.

Birdie Num Num

You DEFINITELY NEED to see Gene Wilder's most famous movie, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

Michael Waldrep

Yea, Stripes would be fun

TheNeonRabbit

I second SILVER STREAK. The first of 4 Wilder/Pryor teamups, it's also a hilarious romantic thriller, all set on a cross country train trip!

Steven

Now Ashley... we were promised Stripes...🤷🏼‍♂️

Brett Delbridge

I like that you have "Good Taste"... Can't wait till Friday... Hawo to Hubon & Beans...

James Falato

No Richard Pryor no Eddie Murphy

Brett Delbridge

Wilder / Pryor movies; Hear No Evil See No Evil, and Silver Streak. For prison movies; Longest Yard and Cool Hand Luke. 👍👍

David Harrison

Nah. I only marginally liked this movie in the 80s.

Thomas Monk

This movie made me remember another movie I love that I've not seen suggested before: The Longest Yard (1974).

Kenton Kruger

Now you have to watch Silver Streak, It is another Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder movie.

Eric

Agree with those that have suggested Frisco Kid.

Tony Williams

Love Dream Team. And if you like Mongo, go to YouTube and search "Mongo deleted scenes".

Bill Bevins

Wait a minute!! I need to hear about you and the three Sheriff's Deputies! Don't leave me hanging like that!

Mark Sylvester

Still hoping that you will watch The Dream Team - well worth your time. Fun fact - Richard Pryor wrote the Mongo dialogue in Blazing Saddles.

Cristina Collins-Armstrong

Brewsters Millions and Trading Places, yes... must sees

Great reaction...Loved this movie and the team of Wilder/Pryor but my favorite pairing is "Silver Streak"...Richard Pryor did a very funny bit about the making of this movie in the concert film "Live on the Sunset Strip"(and if you should ever start reacting to standup comedy films may I suggest you start with that)...and Meredith(Jobeth Williams) was the Mom in "Poltergeist"!

Paul Johnson

Love this reaction. If you love Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor together you should defo watch (see no evil, hear no evil) can’t wait for (what about Bob) and marvel reactions. Kisses to beans xx

Gemma Clement

please add silver streak to your next poll Wilder and Pryor together

Ken - Kendo161

Oh and thanks for the heads up with the next movies. Gives me a chance to get ready and look for them (the ones I don't have)

Moni Castaneda

I'm all for the MCU reactions!!! Gives me an excuse to watch them again

Moni Castaneda

I was going to suggest both of those. Glad to see them getting recommended by others

Matt Gwinn

Olden days?? I resemble that remark!

Mo Vetta

I love Jo Beth Williams, she was in one of my favorite movies from the 80s that almost no one has seen but it's so great, called American Dreamer. So funny and adorable.

Laura Neary Smith

Don’t forget JoBeth Williams. Meredith was the mom in Poltergeist.

Ian Jones

Brewsters Millions should be added to list. Which also makes me think of Trading Places with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy.

Jennifer M

I don't hate those movies. I kind of got bored with them. Maybe it's because I'm older. I read Marvel comic books in the 60s. In 1970 when I was 14, I discovered books and lost interest in comic books. When the Marvel movies started, I would watch them and enjoy them, but I would complain about the inaccuracy of the movie compared to the comic I remembered. My daughter tells me I am stuck in the Silver and Gold era of Marvel and Marvel canon has changed since I read the comics. I really got annoyed when they gave the Howling Commandos to Captain America. They were with Nick Fury, which is another character i have an issue with, which I won't mention. I know I'm just an old fart that's being a nit-picker.

Bill Bevins

RE: MCU / @Mr. Bevins "Once you start those," ... everything changes. True. And, yes, there are far too many clueless MCU reactors. No doubt. I also love the 20th Century classics (real classics rather than just favorites). On the flip side, the inevitable financial gain from YT, merch, and new Patreon subscriptions from the MCU faithful will enable Miss Ashleigh to open multiple channels and hire support staff to assist in the navigation if she chooses that route. This is her business now, through which she's solidifying the foundations of her career and her brand. Let's help her out and keep pitching movie ideas - those that we love, those we know she will love, and those that will bring more attention to her channel. I feel you, Mr. Bevins, I do. Hang in there. It'll be over before you know it!

Two Cents Magoo

Craig T Nelson was in a sitcom called Coach with none other than Bill Fagerbakke the voice of Patrick Star. Also I think See No Evil Hear No Evil is the best Wilder/Pryor movie.

Tim Gilbert

Right now we're getting 8 or 9 movies a month, so if 1 or 2 end up Marvel that's not overwhelming. Plus now that she's doing this full time, who knows what's in store? I'd say so long as the Monday movies stick with the older movies theme she's not changing format.

Kenton Kruger

Yes that’s a good one. Also, Brewsters Millions

cainnum

Ashley I can’t believe you’re starting the MCU! That’s 23 movies! Can’t wait, I’m a huge fan. Also weren’t you gonna tell a story about almost getting arrested?

cainnum

Did you change your mind about telling the “almost got arrested” story? Just tell us when you’re ready. 🙂

“THE TOY” is a MUST Richard Pryor movie!!!

Rick Rodriguez (PicoMan Photography)

Fun fact - the guy who played Grossberger was an Olympic wrestler and an opera singer

Joseph Ricks

This movie was better than I remembered and I very much enjoyed Ashleigh's reaction. Richard Pryor was a fantastically funny writer and comedian but he never impressed me as an actor performing someone else's script. SILVER STREAK is almost certainly going into the polls pretty soon and maybe, just maybe, I should be OK with that.

T.J. Gengler

Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder were a great comedy duo. Silver Streak is even better than this one. Hear No Evil, See No Evil is also a very funny movie with these two guys. I know I'm probably the only one to say this, but I'm disappointed you are doing the MCU Universe. I stopped following after Iron Man 3. I like Ashleigh's channell because she did older movies. There were other movie reactors I used to follow but they started doing all new movies, like the MCU, and TV shows, which I don't watch. Because once you start those you have to stick with them because they are a series and then they end up dominating your channel. I just hope you stick with your original format, Ashleigh, of doing older movies, like the ones from the 20th century. Too many other reactors are doing the MCU and I think Ashleigh should be more unique in what she watches.

Bill Bevins

Richard prior is best known for his standup, also he co wrote blazing saddles with mel Brooks. He was supposed to star in blazing saddles.

ingibingi2000

One of my favourite movies. Brilliant reaction as always Ashliegh. I'm a huge marvel fan, so I'm really excited to see you dive down that rabbit hole. 🇬🇧💗😁👍
