What's Next?!

I have a special addition to a poll coming up VERY soon that many have asked about - just waiting on some software to come in. 😏😏😏

Many have asked when Big Trouble in little China is coming and it's coming on the 19th!
BUT I think you're going to DIE when you see what I coming this Friday... 🔪

Until then - What's next?!

Comments

I just saw Rat Race. Althoughb it is a cheaper movie than Mad/Mad, its director and producer actually understood comedy, unlike Stanley Kramer of MadMad. He used the comedian/actors much better. Intercutting between the different competitors and different stages of the race is clean and to the point. Also, the surprisingly upbeat ending means that you are not left with the bitter taste in your mouth over all the characters' greed. There is a scene in the movie that is to my thinking a definite "anti-homage" to Mad/Mad. Remember the scene where the stars begin to argue over how to split the money? Rat Race starts a reprise of that scene and them makes a turn that shows how stupid the original was.

Joseph Stevenson

Akiva Goldsman was also the screenwriter of "Batman and Robin"....Holy dichotomy!

Paul Johnson

They did a modern spirit remake of its a mad mad mad mad world called rat race in the late 90s/early 2000s. I think Kathy Bates has a cameo and john clease from montey python is in it. It like rat race has many cameos.

Just my opinion didn’t think it was personal. Geez

Dawn

Obviously people don't think they suck. What good does such a comment make? Just because a movie isn't your favorite doesn't make is not a good movie. All of these movies have their popularity.

Edward Olson

Love that film, very dated now but I've always liked it.

Michael Johnson

Stir crazy is good but the rest kind of suck., where are you getting these movies?? Ugh

Dawn

One hopes that for madness month you've slated "A Beautiful Mind." (2001) It is the true story of the Nobel Prize winning mathematician John Nash, who had some psychological issues. Russell Crowe's performance as Nash is excellent. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning four: Best Director (Ron Howard), Best Adapted Screenplay (Akiva Goldsman), Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Connelly), and Best Picture.

Elliot Nesterman

Keep hoping there will be new choices. I don’t care for any of these. 😕

Heather Qualy

Mr. Mom............YES PLEASE!

Candace Anderson

Cult Classics suggested by the Actors in the Dream Team: Night Shift, Mr. Mom, Back to the Future(s), Young Frankenstein, Johnny Dangerously, Animal House (Not a favorite of mine but I'd understand it over Amadeus)

William Glazier

I had to become a member just to figure out why you are picking some of the movies you have. There is a phrase in many descriptions that should be a guide for those who do reaction movies. "Cult Classic" Then it's a matter of picking actors who have been in a number of "cult classics" when you want more people to be interested in your content. In your current poll you have Four good funny movies. It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World is hilarious, but it inspired a Cult Classic "The Great Race" and also the Cannonball Run Movies. Stir Crazy is a classic team up of Pryor and Wilder, but their later movie "See no Evil, Hear no Evil" is much funnier. Ruthless people was probably the worst of the DeVitto movies, while Other People's Money is a Cult Classic. The only Cult CLassic on the list is the Dream Team. It has Michael Keaton (Night Shift, Multiplicity, Mr. Mom), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Futures, Clue,), Peter Boyle (Young Frankenstein, Johnny Dangerously), Steven Furst (Animal House, Babylon 5)

William Glazier

Lol, I think you teased a “Psycho” reaction above.

Thomas Monk

the first is amazing!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

JoStal Dance

I would go with High Anxiety......Mel Brooks playing with a bunch of Hitchcock classics! Madeline Kahn and Cloris Leachman are so fantastically funny in it!!

Candace Anderson

I leave them up until it's clear winner or the ratio to patreon to votes makes it a clear winner

Ashleigh Burton

At 5 seconds, they had the shortest cameo in the movie.

Thomas Ivie

None of the above

Brett Delbridge

Some March Madness options: - Who Framed Roger Rabbit (the mix of animation/cartoons and live action is truly mad; plus, Christopher Lloyd!) - Vertigo (classic Hitchcock, am I going crazy) - Fight Club (more modern, wild)

Andre

For the movies that are staying on the list for several polls in a row, it may be useful to swap them out with some newer options!

Andre

If you do watch it's a mad mad mad world Ashleigh I wanna see if you pick out the three stooges in it

Mr Marvelous

Does anyone know when the polls close?

melissa goff

Do find Stir Crazy to be a classic and love the big guy who is supposed to be scary. He's got an amazing voice.

Michael Johnson

lol, I actually checked online yesterday.

Thomas Monk

In case Ashleigh is still reading these comments, $350,000 in 1963 would be a little over $3 million today.

Elliot Nesterman

I put money on Mad Mad World and GameStop

eric brown

I can see Ash cracking up over Bette Midler and Danny DeVito a LOT more clearly than I can imagine her tickled by Mickey Rooney and Buddy Hackett crashing a plane.

Eric Janssen

I'm throwing my vote for Ruthless People again. Maybe one of these times it will win. Excellent comedy that no one that I've found on YouTube has reacted to yet. Maybe one day a 3M membership will open up and I'll get it and can pick it for Ashleigh to watch.

Bob Criswell

I'm getting nervous. She should do both..... but I'm really rooting for "Mad World."

Thomas Monk

It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World and Stir Crazy are in a real horse race. We win either way.

Michael Buhl

I don't think I ever saw the 197 version. I own the 160 version.... and think that's probably what I saw as a kid in the 1970s. It's great. Nothing feels like it's missing. You sure the 197 version isn't overkill?

Thomas Monk

I hope Mad World wins and Ashleigh watches the most complete version at 197 minutes. She watched the director’s cut of Amadeus and the extended version of Something about Mary so here’s hoping! This version is only available in the Criterion Collection Blu-ray release.

James Moyner

Let's put it this way: After "How the West Was Won", IAM4W was Cinerama's first attempt at making a comedy. And whatever you picture "What if 50's-60's Cinerama made a comedy?" to be, this IS that movie...And less. (Believe me, I’m just as disappointed too, since Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm is still one of my favorites and I saw 2001 in theaters.)

Eric Janssen

"This movie will fuck you up!"

Manuel Johnen

I will keep voting for "The Dream Team". I don't know if many people actually remember this film but it is funny. Agree with "What About Bob" and will throw in "Crazy People" starring Dudley Moore and Daryl Hannah as institution patients who end up writing honest ads for movies and different products that get printed. My favorite ad involves a bad horror movie.

Cristina Collins-Armstrong

Yes. Very funny movie. I never looked at a red car the same way since.

Bill Bevins

It sounds SO FUNNY on paper. But then, so did Stir Crazy.

Eric Janssen

A (non-March Madness) comedy tailor made for Ashleigh - Used Cars with Kurt Russell

Ken

I think with the poll if she were to add that and Girl Interrupted it would knock all the other choices off the list.

Kenton Kruger

Yeah i don't know she's going to like Stir Crazy as much as people think. I rewatched it last year early into the pandemic lockdown and the pacing is really slow, which doesn't seem to play well with modern movie people. I wonder how much of the love for it is rose coloured glasses. I know I remembered it as funnier than it actually was.

Kenton Kruger

I think there is one that would fit perfectly with the madness theme. It's "High Anxiety" and it's a Mel Brooks movie.

Billy Hogner

I agree with PickettsChargingPort... Most people voting are NOT familiar with "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." The fact that it's 17 years older and getting THIS many votes... shows it's worth watching. "Stir Crazy" is a good movie.... but "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" is a movie that set the precedent for many others. It was certainly the largest production comedy in Hollywood of its era... and probably in all the years prior. It was extremely large in scope, with a talented all-star cast on top of it. Ashleigh, watch both movies. : )

Thomas Monk

C'mon... Is it just that most people voting aren't familiar with it's a mad mad... world?

PickettsChargingPort

Nah, it's not corny... not in my opinion. And I know 30 thirteen-year-olds, and 1 nine-year-old who disagree about it being dated.

Thomas Monk

Sorry, but in my opinion all these movies are funnier than Ace Ventura.

Bill Bevins

The In-Laws is a very funny movie. "Serpentine. Run serpentine".

Bill Bevins

Leprechaun for St Pattys Day, more of a Hallowbeans movie

David Harrison

I continue to say that Dr. Strangelove should be a voting option for March!

Michael Atakpa

However the movie about madness you need to watch and you would thank me for it. (Drumroll) What about Bob! Staring Bill Murry and Richard Dreyfuss.

Bill Staley

Agreed!

Bill Staley

For true reaction of a Millennial watching a movie to see if it aged well. Stir Crazy is the best one. Mad mad mad World is the funniest of those 4. For me personally the other two movies are Eh.

Bill Staley

Or maybe The Naked Gun will interest you

Danika Silva

Not interested in any of the available options, try looking into Ace Ventura and see if Jim Carrey is okay

Danika Silva

She's already done the first one.

T.J. Gengler

Stir Crazy is really good.

Michael Johnson

Hey, my son went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Certainly, that’s worth a few points!

Thomas Monk

With Stir Crazy you get to see Gene Wilder again! hint hint hint

Billy Dancel

Hey Patreon might have made a way for people to join your 100.00 tier list. I’ve seen other creators get bombarded after more joined even though it said sold out

Jason Nunez

Big Trouble in Little China is one of my go tos till this day.... I’m looking forward to that for sure. My movie choice have been voted out each time (insert sad face here) It’s Mad Mad World is definitely a comedy and one to watch, at least once (insert sideways look here). I hope you enjoy it as much as Tom (insert two thumbs up and a smiley face). Just have fun!

Personally I don't think you're going to like mad mad world. It's very dated and corny. But hopefully you'll get to the other movies eventually if that one wins.

Mark Finley

Can I buy a few votes here? : )

Thomas Monk

Dazed and Confused is great. I graduated in 74 which was 3 years before this movie took place. This movie was definitely accurate in its depiction of stoner high school students. Up In Smoke would be another great 420 movie.

Bill Bevins

Once again, I have to take this opportunity to request The In-Laws (the 1979 version with Peter Falk [the grandfather reading the story in The Princess Bride] and Alan Arkin [who I don't think has been in any of the movies you've reacted to, but is very funny]).

Michael Buhl

I really hope you see Ruthless People at some point!

Michael Waldrep

It's probably my favorite comedy of all time. But if you don't like it, that's fine too. The good thing about movies is there are so many to choose from and enjoy.

Thomas Ivie

She's already reacted to Psycho during October HalloBEANS.

Thomas Ivie

I've never seen why people like Its a mad, mad, mad, mad world.

Michael Johnson

You know what would be mad?? What about doing ALL of these movies in a single week? Crazy right?!?

Thomas Ivie

Need a sledge hammer instead of a knife lol

Michael Johnson

Hey, do it already. “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” Everything else is inferior. The story behind the production is also cool. It’s an epic movie. And those other titles in your poll—they’re just regular movies.

Thomas Monk

Ahh, is the Friday reaction going to be Psycho?

iamrman82

Not sure if it fits March madness, but ANIMAL HOUSE is hilarious.

Jon Krantz

Well if we're talking about March madness you really should add the 1974 movie Network to the list.

All these movies are great. Voted for Mad Mad World. I have it recorded on my DVR so I can do a watch along. I do hope you do The Dream Team sometime because that is a very funny movie.

Bill Bevins

Honestly murder by death should be on the ticket for SURE

melissa goff

I suspect Stir Crazy is going to edge out It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, but PLEASE keep Mad, Mad World on your future playlist. It's such a funny film, chock-full of the old comedy greats. It's silly and frantic from beginning to end, and it's something my mom and I laughed until we cried while watching together for the first time.

Staci McDaniel

Way better choices for madness out there...

Brandon Portell

For the love of everything I watch mad mad world.

melissa goff

Murder by Death, pretty please!

Lethal Weapon series

Danika Silva

Not interested in any of these, but I do wish you would add As Good As It Gets to the poll 🙂

Christine

Stir Crazy is so funny.

Michael Johnson

I'm still trying to figure out how you have not reacted to AIRPLANE! yet.
