2: Lineart!
3: Character Flats + food rendering
4: Environment Flats
5: Environment Texturing + BG
6: Character Mood Lighting
I achieve this by using an overlay layer! I wait until the background is almost fully established before doing this so I can make sure the characters look like they 'belong' in the scene!
7: Character Shading + Lighting
8: Final touches. Plates, bowls, cups, steam effects, blur effects, etc!
