Upcoming Patreon Plans

Summary: 

-Pausing Patreon until roughly the 10th of April-Spending time until them working on unpacking mental and technical issues with my work

-Will be doing sketch commissions for discord members during this time as well.

-Patreon will briefly unpause for 1-2 days to allow people to join the discord, if they desire.

So it's been awhile since I did a proper update. You may have noticed there was a stretch of a few weeks where I was basically radio silent. The short story is that I burnt out again, but things are a bit more complicated than just that.

The reality is that my methods for art, my standards for them, my expectations; all of it was very hostile towards myself. I was not enjoying art in any capacity, regardless of why I was doing it. I forced myself to keep working but this just made things progressive worse until I had a total shutdown. As such, I paused the Patreon again and took time off to think things through.

Fortunately, after a lot of pondering and tinkering, I realized I needed to be more loose and free with how I approached my work. This is rather difficult for me, as I am a very analytical and rigid person in a lot of ways. I’ve spent the last 2 weeks working on trying to be more experimental and flexible with my drawing. It actually seems to be working, as I have been enjoying drawing a lot again. I believe I am on the path to being back up to speed, but I want to be clear and outline my upcoming plans in light of all this.

So the Patreon is going to remain paused until roughly the 10th of April. I don’t want to pause it but I feel I need to do this to properly continue unpacking these mental issues. My plan for that time is to continue drawing and uploading, but in a less rigid fashion. I’m also going to take time to reevaluate and study weaknesses in my process. My goal with all this is that come the 10th of April, I’ll be able to approach my work in a much healthier manner.

However, I am also going to spend a lot of this time doodling and sketching. This includes doing commissions for people! I’ve already done some private sketch comms for a friend so I feel more confident in my ability to handle it. I will be doing comms for members of my discord during the next month to see how I can handle more consistent work of this type. In light of that, I’ll be leaving the Patreon open for 1-2 days just in case anyone wants to join or rejoin for discord access. I’ll be clear and announce when this is happening so people can plan around it, if they want of course.

I apologize for how much I’ve struggled in the past few months, but I actually feel optimistic about my work despite all this. I feel like I’m finally unpacking some difficult hang-ups that had hounded me for quite some time. I thank anyone who has read all this and those who support my work in whatever capacity they can; your love and affection mean the world to me!
