I often have a critical lack of confidence in my art. Sometimes its because of my skill failings, but other times I get paranoid that the tools and techniques I use are ineffective at achieving the results I want. One way I try to push back against this is copying art I like as close as I can (hence the tracing) to see if my tools can replicate it. Most of the time they work just fine. A lot of art problems, in the end, are a 'skill issue' as they say.
