i loved this one!!! it was such a fun inception-themed christmas episode and i especially loved how it ended for the doctor and clara!

people theorized about this should been the end for clara and tehy last minute changed that so she was supposed to be that old and that was the end of her story but then they renewed her contract. i dont think it was true or i dont know it but that was the story at the time xD

2025-09-23 22:19:32 +0000 UTCAlso forgot to mention how often we get the Doctor compared to a fairytale or hero in the last few seasons, He’s Amelia’s imaginary friend, he’s in this season compared alongside Robin Hood and Santa, it’s an interesting storyline of the line between reality and dreams and what the Doctor represents.

2025-09-23 20:57:20 +0000 UTCAh someone beat me to it in the comment before me lol Yeah the ending where they did the reverse Matt Smith with the Doctor being young and her old was the original ending - Which would have really been quite a fantastic, but also crushing ending! But yeah has already been mentioned Jenna wanted to carry on so that last 'inception' moment was a new ending to keep her on, what a way for Clara to go had it stayed with the original, quite heart-breaking. But yeah love this episode too, so many good moments, the Doctor being offended by their being a movie called Alien was hilarious.
