here is my edited and full opacity reaction to doctor who season 8 episode 1 "deep breath"
so far, the new doctor has made a great impression on me!! im really excited to see where this season goes.

So, in regards to 12 being all over the place mentally and physically through most of this, itβs touched upon a bit in Classic Who. Every time that a Timelord regenerates, the process becomes more explosive and volatile. You can see this when 9, 10 and 11 regenerate. 9 regenerates and thereβs a lot of destructive energy but the ship stays fully intact. Then 10βs regeneration was so explosive that The Tardis had to rebuild for 11. As 11 is supposed to be the last regeneration of The Doctor, he allowed himself to age naturally and protect Christmas. So then, when he gets a new set of regenerations theyβre so crazy and explosive he wipes out an entire fleet of Daleks using that energy. Which also explains why 11 basically sneezed and turned in to Capaldi without destroying the console room all because he focused the explosive energy and essentially became a bomb fired at the Daleks.

In many ways, they properly anticipated the reception Capaldi would receive and made his first episode a commentary on it, which is actually quite cool if you think about it.
