She’s been the weakest of the 3, training under Ruijerd she’s basically always been being protected. She can fight, she’s been trying to get better, but the moment Rudy gets a demon eye all the sudden he’s besting her in hand-to-hand combat. She was put on babysitting duties for the duration of the rescue of Aisha and the beastkin children. Orsted then shows up and completely bodies all 3 of them without breaking a sweat - essentially killing the 3 of them if not for Nanahoshi. If you go back to ep21 and just listen to the VA work for Eris when Rudy is dying.. that encounter really rattled all of them and it’s not like they just immediately got home after that encounter. Throughout the whole journey, Eris has been relying on Rudy and Ruijerd the whole time, she said it herself “I wasn’t afraid of anything because I had Rudy with me” and then followed by “his hands were smaller than mine” is like, how would you feel if you were essentially reliant on a child for your protection and constantly relegated to background roles? Roxy felt similar when she was teaching him - how she didn’t want Rudy to call her Master anymore because she’s getting outranked by a 5 year old. I haven’t read the Eris perspective but I’ve been spoiled a little about some of it - I won’t say anything more than you can’t surmise from the anime but, idk I was really understanding of her decision after this episode. I don’t think you could honestly say she’s meaning to hurt him, she’s just shitty at communicating and is probably afraid that if she talks to him about it he’ll either want to go with her or she’ll be unable to bring herself to leave.

2026-02-07 21:17:11 +0000 UTCi know people love their accurate adaptations but Rudeus helping people would take away from the emotional weight of this episode. Disrupt the entire flow and depth of his despair. They have limited time and they have to focus on the emotions more than the events that ultimately doesnt matter. The changes they made to this episode made it a 10/10 masterpiece instead of a solid chapter in the LN. Also Rifujin directly wrote this episode so the changes were mostyle his idea. Do not look at it like "cut content"

There were 1000 other ways she could have done it without ruining Rudeus' life. I have seen people bringing up the idea of skipping OP for season 2. And my 2 cents is first OP of season 2(Until episode 13) is fine but second OP of season 2 is pretty spoilery so i can see an argument for that

2026-02-07 19:37:56 +0000 UTCIf you go back to episode of eris' grandfather being executed. pay attention to the right balcony ;) In this show, details you don't even have context for yet matter a lot. In fact, you should always be taking note of side characters. Never know why they matter til much later. Also, cut content from LN. When rudeus finally got up, he actually did help them before moving on. In meaningful big ways. I'm not sure why they cut that cause it makes him feel a bit self serving to just up and leave when he could build some walls and a well in like 5 seconds (which he did help them do first). The next two episodes are both Ovas that don't directly follow story after this episode but setup some things for season 2. Definitely must watches before starting season 2, but if watching off crunchyroll or most sites they should be ordered correctly. I believe the first ova might be labeled episode 24 and second ova will be season 2 episode 0.
