Rudy and Eris were right under the source of the mana disaster, they have no idea how far this thing reached, Rudy was swamped just trying to make some money and stay alive. The message never reached the demon continent, it stopped at Zant port, where Rudy got kidnapped by Gyes, so he could not have seen it, you can't blame Rudy for these things. Rudy thought Zenith was with Paul, also she's an S rank adventurer, she can take care of herself, hence why his mind went to Sylphie first. Paul is legit an asshole in this argument, no matter how hard he had it, he should have been happy his son is alive, there was no need for anything else. Also what 40 years of experience on earth, he was just in his room fapping all day, what experience lmao. Rudy hasn't been with his family for the past 5 years, he was packed up and sent to work at 7 years old.

The second rudy gave his name to Geese whent hey were locked up together, his facial expression changed and he started calling him "boss" without hesitation. If you rewatch that reaction with context it's super obvious he knew all along it was pauls son. Also, LN context for the two girls with paul. They were rescued by paul from slave traders and the one girl that's dressed reserved and can seen guarding herself in disgust during rudy and paul fight scene is severely traumatized by what was done to her and can't stand the presence of men looking at her. The other girl that's dressed super skimpy that rudy was perving during fight dresses that way on purpose to avert the gaze of all men onto her so that she can protect the other girl. This is explained in far more detail in LN. I will say this about anime though, despite fact that they completely leave the context out, they still put effort into animating it and contextualizing it so that when you have that context it's clear as day. ALso, the greatest part about this anime universe is that no one is perfectr and everyone is right and wrong.

In his defense, Sylphy might've come to mind simply because she was always so helpless in his mind and he was always looking after her back then. His mother and Lillia were always dependable. Still, an unfortunate but brilliantly-written argument stemming from realistic depiction of stress and emotions.

Althought Pauls crash was also apropriate the situation ...some thoughts are in next episode so i wont go on :D just my opinion i did not read the LN just purely based of anime :)
