Some of the stuff they make pretty understandable in the LN and manga doesn't always come through clearly in the anime. That's one of the more frustrating things for me watching EIS reactions, when the reactors go through the series thinking something about what's going on that just makes the series more confusing for them. It seems to happen more in EIS than other series, probably because the anime doesn't always spell everything out for the viewer and sometimes just hints at things, that if you're not paying attention you'll miss, or just not understand if you already think something else is going on. (like thinking Cid is making everything happen through his own powers)

2025-12-04 11:49:59 +0000 UTCThe thing with Claire believing she might be possessed is that, in the light novel that is actually mentioned in a small sentence directly at the beginning of the first novel, when Cid first researches possession (or rather, when magic power goes rampant). He noticed the first signs in his sister when she was still young but showed no outward signs of it yet and he got rid of it. But that is not mentioned in the anime until now - which is around the third novel (and Claire obviously has no idea because he never mentioned anything, she only knows she felt what she would later learn were signs of starting possession, but it never manifested and she has been living in fear of turning since then). I know confirmation of this might be a bit spoilery (considering it is not mentioned directly in the anime) but Beta already alluded to this in the start of the episode when she told Claire she "wouldn't have to worry about it", so I think this is fine to write. The thing is, because Cid knows "possession" is just magic power going out of control, he doesn't see it as a big deal and I am pretty sure he has even already forgotten that he did that for Claire, because to him it was just a small thing ^^ At least that is how it is portrayed in the novel.
