I think it's just Hitagi making a hyperbole for comedic effect. Also, you don't really have to redownload Nise for my sake lol, I just pointed out a cool scene that was relevant for the moment.
My abba taught me a few things too, like how to rip the skin off by using my own mouth

2025-07-14 03:03:10 +0000 UTCFrom the first episode of this arc, Hanekawa has been mentioned several times and held in high regard, and Kaiki, without knowing her, was starting to have prejudices about her. Paraphrasing what Kaiki said in the previous episode, he hates Gaen's attitude of thinking she knows everything and consequently knowing about him, and that's the same impression Hanekawa gave him in the short time they had interacted, plus his prejudices. That's why at the hotel Kaiki confronted her and was also testing her to see if she'd act the same way as Gaen, but when Hanekawa said "I don't know everything, I only know what I know", which is similar but very different from Gaen's "I know everything" it was enough to break the ice.

2025-07-13 21:47:05 +0000 UTCSomething I'm noticing as you two scrutinize the Senjou/Kaiki dynamic is the theme of children vs adults. There's a lot of other character dynamic reasons why their relationship might seem odd, but I think in this arc, thematically, for Kaiki a lot comes down to what it means to be an adult. Nadeko is no longer a child, but not an adult either. She became a god instead, rejecting the responsibilities and hardship of adulthood. Senjou is caught in the boundary layer. In some ways trying to seem more adult than she is, which can be a little off putting especially when it comes to sexually teasing Kaiki. But she highlights their dynamic disparity a lot. Hanekawa, however, is on equal footing with Kaiki. Whereas Senjou has to ask questions, probe, and constantly try to affirm things explicitly, Hanekawa understands the implicit. For better or worse, that is a thing adults do more than children. They prepare, they observe just like Kaiki does. Hanekawa meets him on that level, and they both understand that. Hence "let's get down to business" like adults do.
