Mannn this episode hits. Straight from the start with how kaiki is narrating the story. I lost it when senjougahara tried to one up him by wearing the funny glasses, and he was like "hell nah" and went with a beach shirt that is so opposite of what he usually wears just to mess with her. Also the spilling the drinks ahhhh, and kaiki just trying so hard to justify his reasoning to help them. Def top 3 arcs in all of monogatari.

2025-07-11 08:02:43 +0000 UTCThe scene with Kaiki sitting in the toilet and contemplating about wether he should help Senjogahara for free is so great. It's exactly as both of you said he's basically trying to convince himself with some kind of logical reason that would fit in his personal philosophy even though he genuinely wants to help her. It's also cute that this reason ends up being Kanbaru. He must have really loved her mother a lot to care so much for Kanbarau despite never meeting her himself at this point. Koimonogatari is one of my favourite arcs and Senjo and Kaiki (best girl) are two of my favourite characters in this whole show. So I'm really looking forward to the reactions to this arc.

2025-07-10 15:21:16 +0000 UTCi remember when i thought it was koi fish too, i finished the arc and was like "...where's the fish? was there any fish metaphor did i miss?" only to check the internet and was like "...oooh, that's what Koi means, make sense.." (mine wasnt translate to Love story, just Koimonogatari)

2025-07-10 02:02:07 +0000 UTCYay been lookin forward to this arc. So many great moments and subtle nuance between how each character actually feels vs how they present themselves. Chillih is definitely onto something, there was a mention of Kaiki and Senjougahara's potential "romantic" involvement during Kaiki's first appearance. Good memory. Specifically that he implied she was in love with him (of course she denied it, but still.) Also Kanbaru was certainly wary of Kaiki at first, she turned tail and ran as soon as she saw him. It was only when she realized he kept showing her nothing but kindness that she eventually started letting her guard down and wonder why she was feeling so apprehensive. Anyways, great reaction as always :D
