"As for when I fell in love with Araragi, I'll leave that story for another time." Kizu hadn't come out yet. The anime was created with the context of the audience not knowing about Kizu until after Second Season.

2025-10-23 07:52:20 +0000 UTCI think the stress associated with her house burning down is that it forces her to actually start forming an identity, which is hard work. Accepting everyone and everything is easy as it lets you avoid dealing with deeply negative emotions/conflicts. It's a coping mechanism on the opposite end of the spectrum as Araragi's (pre-Kizu) yet it interestly achieves the same result. Araragi essentially rejected everyone and everything to avoid dealing with negative things associated with having deep/meaningful attachments and friendships. The tiger burning her house down is essentially burning the easy, convenient facade of an identity she's "lived" in (but has no real attachment or connection to). Burning this to the ground is a way to force her to build an actual identity true to herself from scratch, which is bound to include struggles in itself.

2025-06-02 00:54:58 +0000 UTCThe fact that you can even bring up a discussion about wether black hanekawa's HAIR LENGTH has something to do with the amount of stress she has which differs in every arc is crazy lmao. But yeah using the food quiz to analyze hanekawa's psychology is bonkers, how do you even come up with this. I want to imagine that it's a smart way to catch someone offguard. Like if you made the question way too obvious of a psychology test, hanekawa would come up with the "right" answers which will made it somewhat difficult for senjou to get a grasp of her character. Asking it with food lowers her guard or so I'd assume.

2025-05-22 02:39:44 +0000 UTCSenjou is absolutely using food as a metaphor. She’s recognizing that it’s not JUST food that she feels this way about, she accepts anything, everything, everyONE. It’s not that she has any preferences with anything, if she loves everything or likes everything then how does she have any actual tastes. She doesn’t value herself enough to even acknowledge what she prefers or what gets under her skin. Senjou mentions that maybe that’s why the two of them are able to have such an amicable relationship. But that’s why I think that shower scene is so important. Hanekawa is actually rationalizing how she feels about Senjou, how she feels about her own lack of growth, and the feelings of admiration of how Senjou has overcome her obstacles. She does have reasons to like Araragi, but also, why would he be different than anyone else who could have ever interacted with her. Like anyone could fill that role, that’s sort of a call back to Senjougahara’s statements about who she used to be in Nise, about Kaiki (paraphrased, Nise 7) “I won’t deny I probably saw him in a good light. Back then it’s likely that I would have fallen for anyone that would have saved me. That’s why I’m glad it was you. When I think about that, it makes me furious.” She’s seeing that aspect of who she used to be in Hanekawa now. Black Hanekawa being sort of tied together with Hanekawa is nice that you’re seeing that. We could already kind of see that in Bake tho. If you think about this chronologically, Kizu to Neko Kuro to Bake to Nise to here. Black Hanekawa has been in and with Hanekawa for a while, you’re just coming off of her initial appurrance (sic) where she’s the most volatile and the most like an oddity. But in Bake she even comes to Araragi looking for a way to relieve her of her stress. She’s genuinely got her best interest in mind, she’s just a cat oddity that represents the stress and the faults of Hanekawa.

2025-05-21 19:29:33 +0000 UTCTo clarify - All that you watched up until now was the "First Season" of the Monogatari series. The arc you're currently watching is Nekomonogatari Shiro, which is the first arc that's a part of the "Second Season". The whole thing is the monogatari series.
