Another subtle detail that makes this scene so much sweeter is the fact that it's hinted in episode 2 that both of them enjoy astronomy. Senjougahara asks Araragi what he meant about how people interpret shapes from the moon and he confidently explains. It's one of the very rare instances where she admits she's impressed by him, and in true Araragi fashion he downplays it and says he just happens to have an interest in Astronomy before she returns to teasing him again. Then finally in this episode we see the fruits of her noticing that moment and sharing a special place that she knows and thinks he will enjoy. Such a beautiful relationship between two fascinating characters.

"A quintessential workaholic" is like saying "the very definition of a workaholic" - he's admitting that he knows he's completely wrapped up in his work life. That said though, it's clear he understands his daughter. He probably understands that this place is important to her - she said that they went there when she was a child with her mother and he's okay with the two of them going into the woods together. I don't know if you have sat through the ending, but the ending starts out after that initial musical interlude with "'That's Deneb, Altair, and Vega,' you say as you point at the Summer Triangle." which is how the date portion of this date starts. Given that the show is told like a reflection of events, Araragi won't show physical intimacy in the show - think about it more like he keeps that to himself. Admittedly, I have skipped right to this episode so I don't know if you've picked up on this, but the fanservice in the show is generally used from Araragi's point of view as a way to portray how he feels his relationship is with the character. That goes for all of the characters too, Nadeko and Kanbaru - anything that happened with them has been completely on the side of teasing or playful - never intimate or serious. Hachikuji is mostly the same way but I think they push the boundaries with her for meta purposes as commentary on the typical industry use of characters like her.. That's what the whole purpose of LNs was when they were initially being introduced, commentary on industry practices and changes to how tropes of anime/manga could be used in a way that the writer felt was more effective. It should make you feel a little uncomfortable because she's a kid. It's wrong and he acknowledges it, and pays a price for it.
