The first episode she stated, "Pretending to be ignorant makes everything easier in this world." She doesn't want to even think about Jinshi being either the emperor's brother or son. So, she convinces herself that he is simply a eunuch. At least, that is my interpretation. 25:10 for Nesa's question. I think that Maomao was just worried that the envoy would disrupt the balance of power between the 4 high ranking concubines. Essentially the envoy was declaring herself to be more beautiful than the concubines and that she deserved to be the empress over one of them. This would potentially upset some very powerful families in the nation, as the envoys are foreigners. Once again, just my speculation.
