Also could you let me know if this is from the light novel, since it sounds like it is written from a whole different perspective (POV). I will consider maybe reading it after we're done with the whole series. I don't think we would've ever understood that deeply, without those details. It also makes so much sense!! - Nesa

2024-11-11 04:21:09 +0000 UTCNow that y'all know Lakan wasn't pure evil and just a victim of unfortunate circumstances, I can explain some of the stuff he did. First of all Lakan isn't really on anyone's side other than his own, many people thought he was evil because that's how the show portrayed him which is understandable. You guys thought he was the one who planned to kill Jinshi in the ceremony it but it was actually quite the opposite. Many of his odd requests like with the metalworkers or the dead officials were him dropping hints to Jinshi about someone plotting to kill him. Jinshi wasn't able to see the connections but Mao Mao did leading her to saving Jinshi on time. Lakan being at the ceremony confirmed he knew all along someone was plotting to kill Jinshi and if he was the one trying to kill Jinshi why would he tell the guard to let Mao Mao through. Also you thought he had a shocked expression because Jinshi was saved but that was because Jinshi being nearly at the top of the palace hierarchy was carrying a servant girl and showing this in front of all the officials which is something a royal would never do. Lastly about the flowers. The new concubine Loulan and her father were trying to gain influence at the garden party but Lakan suggested Jinshi to basically do an impossible task by bringing blue roses to outshine them and limit their influence while also trying to piss Loulans dad off. Loulan's father didn't show much of a reaction so that was why Lakan was irritated/disappointed he wasn't mad at Jinshi for actually somewhat completing the task. So yeah Lakan isn't really a bad guy even when he portrays himself as such he's incredibly smart to gain the recognition of Luomen. He also doesn't view people as pieces because he views them as insignificant it's an actual medical condition and viewing them as pieces is just a way for him to associate or identify people suggested by Luomen. He's a really complex character so I hope this spiel helps you understand some of his actions

You guys went all in on him being a evil mastermind though....seems to me that might be the new top concubine and her dad's role. I cut part of my thumb off 8 years ago. Most of it actually grew back. It's only slightly off. You couldn't tell unless I put it next to my other thumb. I didn't know that was a thing until I saw it with my own eyes. Age has nothing to do with it.
