So in this episode Mao Mao says it comes from the South and in a previous episode she mentions someone else dressing in Southern style a certain new concubine. She doesn't directly say it to Basen since she probably doesn't wanna get involved something like a political dispute so just hints at it so he could report it to Jinshi or Gaoshun. Hope this helps with any confusion!

2024-10-26 02:39:48 +0000 UTC11:45 Eh. I'm still not certain what that comment was about. I think it was just Maomao telling Basen to look into where the seaweed came from, without actually telling him to do it. After all she is a servant and lower in status to Basen. I could be wrong, though.
