Like she didn't want to do something wrong and embarrass herself. I thought that was why she was appearing aloof but I really don't know anything. It was just my interpretation of what I saw and I could easily be wrong. Did you say she is foreign? I don't remember if she is or not but I know she comes from far away. Maybe she doesn't speak the language very well or is embarrassed about her accent or something like that? Still just guesswork lol It must be difficult to come into a situation like that where you are practically cut off from everyone you know, except for a few ladies in waiting, who are really just servants. She probably expects it to be a hostile environment with the other concubines seeing her as competition. Attending Maomao's lesson and seeing the other concubines seeming to be friends, and then seeing the mysterious teaching materials, must have thrown her for a loop lol. Now she thinks the others have already joined forces, so she's even more alone, and then... how long have they been having these insane lessons?! What do they know that I don't? How will I ever win against these amazing women who must have a ton of, *ahem* "bedroom dances" (LOL) already memorised. The poor girl.
