This is a Japanese production but the story itself is based in a fictional land similar to imperial China. Maomao's name comes from a cat's meow. Meow meow = Maomao. It just means that she has a cat's personality such as curiosity. The white powder wasn't used on the babies themselves. The wet nurses were using it and it was poisoning their own bodies, which in turn poisoned the babies when they were feeding. The woman that tossed the flower with the message out of the window wasn't the concubine herself, it was one of her ladies in waiting. I hope you enjoy this show. It's one of my favorites.

I will hold off on confirming it till I see a second season of both. Anyway, my poit is that I think you will really enjoy this show. I kniw how much you both loved Frieren. ... Oh, I hope you guys get back to Alya. It's my favorite new show of this season.
