Loved the reaction and thoughts, these episodes are so rich in terms of character writing considering how much (incredible) action we get, it’s truly impressive and it only gets better! I think the symbolism Nesa picked up on regarding the barrier breaking relates to the flashback we get of Serie, Flamme, and Frieren as well as Frieren and her party defeating the Demon King. We have been getting the line from several characters that “magic is a world of visual imagination.” In the flashback, Flamme claims that, as ones who seek battle, her and Serie cannot defeat the demons king. She tells Serie, “After all, you can’t imagine yourself living in a peaceful era.” Frieren was thus able to do something Serie was not, kill the demon king and pave the way for a peaceful time. In other words, Serie’s lust for battle was constraining her potential in a way, like a barrier. Frieren destroying the barrier symbolizes how she destroyed the constraint on freedom by the Demon King’s influence. Frieren essentially turned the state of the world with the Demon King in it "upside-down." As far as the lecture Richter was giving to Kanne and Lawine, that will be further explained so I won’t mention anything about the styles and aptitudes of modern mages. Can’t wait for more, next exam is insane!
