The events that follow take place during issue Thirty-Three of the Uncanny X-men.

During the golden age of the X-men; Cyclops, Iceman,Beast, Angel, and Jean Grey came together as the special elite task force known as the X-men. The latest arrival, Jean Grey, had first arrived as Professor Xavier’s newest student. Until now…

Outside in the world the unstoppable Juggernaut returned to full strength and had begun his rampage anew! The large crimson behemoth stomped his way across the land seeking a means to travel so he could continue his onslaught upon the X-men and Xavier.

Inside the manor of the institute itself Scott, Jean, Hank, Bobby, and Warren, all tended to the comatose Professor hoping to somehow wake him before the Juggernaut arrived. After Jean tapped into the thought machine and learned of the ‘Ancient one’ a call of a sort was sent out to reach that very person, only to find an astral projection of an unfamiliar Sorcerer appear in the room after their call. The Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange.

Quickly Scott Summers relates the origin of the Juggernaut! Then…

“Because my mentor’s knowledge is now mine, perhaps I can help you. Be warned the journey I propose is very dangerous and only two of you may undertake it!” Strange instructed in his spectral form.

All around Cyclops were his teammates volunteering to go with him, but he only had one person on his mind fit to come with.

“Still, I must choose! And I choose Marvel Girl!” Cyclops announced earning some mild disgruntlement from the others while a certain line of thought was spoken in his head. ‘But, did I pick her because of her great telekinetic power,...or, selfishly because I love her?’

“The rest of you have an equally important task, stall the Juggernaut as long as possible!” He added turning around to his teammates as Jean looked at him clearly enamored and giddy at the thought of being alone with him.

‘Scott chose me….as if he knew how much I long to share his risks! I won’t let him down!’ She thought eyeing him.

Strange spoke up again.

“Listen carefully, for I must return to Stonehenge! I shall cast a spell to send you to the Temple of Cyttorak. There you must repeat the incantation which even now, courses through your brains!” She said as Scott and Jean mentally received all the information they would need for their entire mission.

After both were left in awe of his powers the specter of Strange began to fade away.

“And now, I must depart! To remain longer would place my body...and the world in dire jeopardy!” He announced as he floated into the air. “But, hear this. If you have not completed your mission within the span of one hour you shall forever remain within the Crimson Cosmos!”

With that he disappeared and so too did both Scott and Jean while their comrades reacted to their fading with shock and worry.

“Remember, everyone, the professor and the world is counting on you…!” Jean said as she and Cyclops teleported away from the scene to arrive at the temple of Cyttorak in Korea!

After some doing such as scaring away the scouting patrol of Korean soldiers and blasting a way into the mountain, Scott and Jean arrive inside the mountain following the scarlet light leading to the temple!
