[Early Access] "What Is Your Agenda?"

The day of the second Trial arrives: the debate that will bring you and Zaros one step closer to the ruling seat. But do you have a chance to outsmart your rival?

❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀

The Noble Trials Episode 5 is here! As usual, I always have so much fun writing this story. It's the one that's captivated my attention more than any other series that I've worked on, to the point of wanting to work through the weekend because I just love fleshing out this world.

During the writing of this part, I was growing concerned about how I wanted to lay it out purely because of the content. When you listen, I think you'll understand what I mean. For this kind of narrative where every word matters, it's difficult to get across the story I want without resorting to obvious writing that I would rather avoid at all costs.

To get around this, I have created a full transcript of the debate in this episode. Too small a silence implies the listener doesn't talk much, and too large a silence is boring dead noise, so this was the alternative I decided on.

It's something new that I've never done before, but I absolutely loved creating it and giving this world more life! You can return to that segment to better understand the scene at your own leisure~

If I am not mistaken, there was talk of 3 trials.

Aisa

Thank you very much!!

Danielle Lauren

It hasn't been said yet I don't think.

ZSakuVA

No that’s so real! I strongly like both of them aswell 💀 sometimes I ask myself how they put up with themselves cuz they’re such shitty people

Aleria

How many trials will be there in total?

To be honest, I don't like either character. Zaros is too hyper-holy for me and Earis is just awful. I can't relate to the character and after this part I don't know if that can change. But the way the world is built is incredible.

o u c h . that hurt but deserved. i, like Zaros, wanted to believe that Earis had no intentions of being dishonest or use blatant plagiarism of Zaros’s ideas so when i read in the transcript that they did exactly that i was stunned. i know that Earis said their tenacity was their strongest trait and Zaros mentioned that they would do anything to win, but i had hoped not this. While their ideas weren’t as good as Zaros’s, they were at least their own and even Zaros in the mock debate had said they weren’t bad ideas. I expected them to understand that they were going to lose the debate, and take that with whatever grace they could manage then focus on winning the duel. They already knew they won the first trial, so if they won the duel then they would have bested Zaros in 2 out of 3 trials. So them going to such lengths to try in win in a trial they were so obviously going to lose was so hard to hear. That question’s answer was also just different from their other answers, since it wasn’t theirs to begin with. Even if no one realized it then, that transcript would be kept for history regarding the trial. And depending on whoever won the trial, and maybe even just future critics of their rule, Earis’s dishonesty could be revealed because it’s all written down now. I know that isn’t likely, but it would be something i’d worry about as an overthinker with an anxiety disorder. Regardless, i’m glad Zaros pulled them away and showed how awful they are for this because this was just so low for them. The leech line hurt so bad but it was so fitting… i desperately need a redemption arc for Earis because i was starting to like them, or atleast my view of them, until this. And i also like Zaros and their dynamic with him too much for them to screw it up and have him never talk to them again </3 but if that last bit is anything to go by, i think they have changed even by a sliver (im so delusional). they acknowledged that they missed his company and sought him out, and even if they didn’t apologize, they still offered information that could destroy their chances of winning of Zaros’s mother has anything to say about it. Again not likely since the trial is rigged against Zaros, but i want to believe so badly that they told him this because they felt guilty and wanted to do something to “make peace” with him so he would stop avoiding them. aaaa i miss the cute moments already </3

my brain is running absolute laps with thoughts whilst tryna process this 😭 Zaros putting compassion and wisdom to be his core values was interesting and quite sweet. his answers immediatelyy put him ahead for me. whether or not he would stay true to his word (or if those words are even true to begin with) the fact he put the people at such high priority, compared with Earis' answers... i know who i'd rather vote for ! if only his chances were fair </3 it's shocking, yet not surprising, that Earis would use Zaros' idea. they definitely have that courage they were talking about huh.. and definitely living up to be a leech 😭 but the way Zaros managed to counter it was a great save tbh. and the last part with them talking alone; their conversation typically being how against and avoidant they are of one another, yet so often find themselves sharing each others company - along with the slight teasing and tense atmosphere - ugh, romantic or not, I LIVEEEE FOR IT. kinda find myself liking and rooting for Zaros at the moment ngl. though i reckon they'd make a crazy good pair of rulers, possibly balancing each others personalities out (?) i could say the same for all your audios, however this series, especially with the music, feels like listening to an actual tv show or something. seriously blown away remembering you write and put this all together yourself. (of course the other VA's do an incredible job with their parts too!) and the transcript is Such a great addition. i really really love the idea of knowing both sides of the argument, and how stunning it looks! the visual helps my tiny brain understand everything a little better too. i always worry about misunderstanding / misinterpreting c': there's never any doubt with the levels of detail, effort and quality you provide, so thank you. cannot wait to re listen to the series, now with the added information, and give my brain more laps to run 🫶

Another amazing episode, thank you for your hard work!! And what are the songs are the very beginning and around the 36 min mark? They're lovely!

Danielle Lauren

zaros cleared i fear..

bossmandlow

Nah even just reading back the transcript, Zaros absolutely wiped the floorrrrr with Earis my god 😂😂 they’d be a force to be reckoned with if they were to rule together, I dare say. She has a little bit of that cunning and willingness to fight dirty, which unfortunately is necessary sometimes (just not with Zaros man what the hell 😂) and Zaros’ ability to be for the people and WITH the people??? It could be a golden combo 🤭 too much arrogance and pride right now perhaps. I’m so invested Saku help. Also the music was phenomenal again in this, excellent choices!

sepia

“Figure it out, leech.” Oh my goddddd Saku, the delivery of that line in particular, combined with the music in the background? My godddd I felt that in my SOUL 🫠 that HURT. I feel like I keep repeating myself, but this whole series is so well made and written! I thought it was interesting that Earis chose ‘knowledge’ where Zaros chose ‘wisdom’, the difference between those two very much highlights what they find important. I thought providing the transcript to read what the listener answered was also a really good choice, thank you for that! 🙏🏻 Personally, I felt Zaros did better in the debate 🤭 the dynamic between him and listener is de-li-cious. I have no idea if this will venture into romance in the future or not, but if not, their relationship as it is right now is so interesting and fun (as highlighted by the final 5 minutes) 🙏🏻 you did an excellent job once again. I’ll wait impatiently for the next part 👀 let’s find this saboteur~?

sepia

Yeah, I'm still of the opinion that Zaros having more favor with the people and Earis being favored by the nobles would make them an insane and effective duo if they co-ruled. But with each passing audio, I'm becoming less and less confident that Earis would be a good ruler at all. Dunno, I'm gonna need that sweet sweet character development for Earis to change my mind about this.

Choco

I honestly agree with you and think they should work together in taking care of the kingdom

Amber_Brevily

Damn I'm actually rooting for Zaros at this point, that was dirty from Earis,I thought they had an agreement, and overall Zaros' ideals are way better than Earis', the people should come first, not meaningless power.

Orchidontis

Oooh I hate to be the one that says it, but Zaros ate down with this one. I mean, every answer was ON POINT. And I knew it would be because 1) Zaros is good at debating 2) the little snippets we've gotten of his ideals have shown that his heart is in the right place and 3) he's just obviously the better candidate for the throne. He isn't the best and he still has some growing to do himself, but compared to Earis, he quite frankly would make the perfect Eminence. As for Earis, good God that was a struggle to go through. Personally, I found myself trying to do mental gymnastics to convince myself that some of Earis’ answers and ideas were at least a little bit sound. I think there is merit to the 2 core values that they gave, but that's about it. Like, every answer they gave was about Serulla gaining more power, more land, or making more money. I can't even say that they were pragmatic answers, just tone deaf and shallow compared to Zaros’. And on top of that, of course they had to “plagiarize”/steal an idea. They truly are hopeless. Meanwhile, although Zaros had the better answers and - at least I felt - displayed better qualities of being a good ruler during the debate, he was never going to win this trial regardless if it was fair or not. Though every answer he gave was great theoretically and I would even say realistically, but when his answer to every question is to improve the quality of life of the commonfolk, whether that be increasing their wages, giving them access to better education, or seeking their approval for policies put in place, all while he insinuates or outright states to increase taxes on nobles and forgoes them in any intention he has at bettering people's lives…I would be surprised if the judges, who are nobles mind you, would be a-okay with getting the perceived short end of the stick under his rulership. Why is he so honest in his future intentions all the time? Would it hurt to lie little? I mean, there's no politician or ruler in the world that does everything they say they will do, so he can afford to tone down on the noble-hate campaign to gain favor with them even if he doesn't believe or agree with everything he says. It's not right, but this is how the game is played. It reminds me of Ned Stark from Game of Thrones. Honor didn't do shit for Ned in the end, iykyk. But I still commend Zaros for holding fast to his ideals despite the cards being stacked against him. I guess I should've expected Earis to defer to underhanded tactics, but Zaros pulling them aside to dress them down had me clutching my pearls because why he kinda…🥵 But him calling Earis a leech added 30 years to my lifespan because it was so deserved. I was honestly cheering for him because he absolutely gagged them.👏🙌 However, both of them are hopeless cases because what do you mean Earis barreled their way into his room, whined about him avoiding them, and released information that confirmed that the trials were rigged under the guise of being “petty” and “gloating”. Like what? They clearly missed Zaros (because they have no friends) and was feeling guilty about cheating essentially, and decided to throw him a bone as a peace offering. I mean, they were planning on watching him draw all night just to stay in his company had Zaros not called them out. And then there's Zaros who was oh so busy training from sunrise to sunset that he couldn't be found anywhere in the castle at any time of the day. Did bro not eat, was he not studying, did he not take breaks??? He could've easily admitted that he was avoiding them but wanted to put up a guise that he wasn't? It's crazy how when people truly hate someone they have no hesitation in stating the lengths they go in avoiding the other's presence. Crazy how they only seem to lie when there's a modicum of affection hidden somewhere.😏 They're both dense as rocks when it comes to their own behaviors and feelings about each other when it's plain as day. It's cute af to hear them say they hate each other only to act like they're each other's favorite person.🤭 All in all, the fact that the conspiracy extends beyond the Queen's knowledge, makes me think that she will ultimately take the fall when everything comes to light. Not looking forward to that 😮‍💨. Also, not looking forward to Nira finding out that the trials are rigged. She's gonna have a million and one things to say about that 😒. But what's frustrating is that Zaros is by leagues the better candidate but idk how he's going to win anything when everything is rigged against him. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll win the duel because Earis is too cocky to train seriously. That will undoubtedly set them off and may encourage them to do something brash. Side note: Starting off the audio, I was nervous as heck because I wanted them both to do well. So, when Earis stated that they had no counter and Zaros tripped up on that one counter, I was slamming my head against the wall. Luckily, Zaros recovered, but what the fuck was Earis on? No comment? Really?😤🫣 Realistically, Earis would've handed away a point if this debate wasn't rigged. Either way, I LOVED this audio, Saku. I’ll need to give this a few more relistens but wonderful job with this!

Choco

the ending just confirmed to me they definitely crave each other’s attention just as much as the other 🙂‍↕️
