YEAH i can totally see that!! Ever since that episode how i see Earis and the queen’s relationship is just,, not great. To me, Earis was born just because the first (their brother) was gone, so their mother (likely unintentionally) will never love or accept Earis as anything more than the replacement child to inherit the throne (thus not entitled to know the story of their brother’s death). On that line of thinking, I can see their mother having issue with their friendship with Zaros back in school and maybeee warned Earis to stay away from him which then pushed the Earis into betraying and leaving Zaros back then. And now, she would likely be even more distressed as Zaros is shown to be a more than capable candidate as the next Eminence. Sooo regardless of what she tells Earis, i wouldn’t be surprised if she tries something in order to not have his family win. edit: ESPECIALLY BC OF WHAT WE’VE HEARD OF HER FATHER ya know the guy we have only heard was an absolutely insane and just horrible person whose wrongs she had to fix once she became the next Eminence. Even if she fixed his wrongs and is a better person by comparison, i feel like she had to have picked up on some of his ways—even if they only reel their ugly head when she’s pushed into an emotional corner.

2024-09-23 04:15:08 +0000 UTCYou know I think you might be on to something cuz in the same episode 4 audio Earis ask about her older desist sibling and what happened (something Zaros suggested she learn both sides of the story too back in episode 2) and mom is quick to shut the conversation down. Weither it's her not wanting to relive it or if some small prejudice still remains from the pain of her loss. What if she would feel damned to have the offspring if the family that took her first child take the highest position.

2024-09-22 23:56:59 +0000 UTC(theory yap fest ahead) Also did anyone else feel sour after the end of the last audio? Specifically by listener’s mother telling them that they won the first trial. To me, it’s less that she told them but more of the implication of it—which Earis (somewhat) pointed out by asking if she wanted to sabotage Zaros. If she was able to pull a few strings to get information, who’s to say that those same people who favor her and the Illvess family (who also openly dislike Zaros and his family according to what he told us previously in episode 2 i think) wouldn’t go so far as to sabotage Zaros off of her suggestion. idk if i’m just too far in my view of Earis, but after listening to episode 4 again i get the feeling of “why did you tell me that” screaming in my head. While I definitely wouldn’t put it past Earis to fall to sabotage in order to secure their win, but i feel like with this they are trying to win from their own power—most likely to prove Zaros wrong. And with their promise to Zaros (episode 2), i think their mother’s words is creating dissonance for them. They want to believe that it really is just “useless information” but they know that the implication, if heard by anyone else, would also lead them to the conclusion that their mother could manipulate the trials when she shouldn’t be able to. If word got out that she could do this and then that she told Earis the results, the trust built between them and Zaros within this short time would be destroyed. And by that point their feelings for him likely would have developed again, and they wouldn’t want to go through that devastating heartbreak again. But they also wouldn’t want to tell him the truth because even if he understood, they’d worry that he would tell his mother who would (understandably for once) cause havoc against their own mother and themselves—which would likely separate them and Zaros again anyway. Either way is a loss to them, so i feel like the “why did you tell me that” sensation is fitting for Earis here and i wonder if they’ll do anything.

YIPPPEEE ok in all seriousness im so excited for the next installment im also betting that this segment is after the debate has finished and Earis falls back on old habits because they lost, getting upset but ultimately believing Zaros’ words (bc in my take of the listener, they have both a crippling amount of self hatred and also ingrained feelings of superiority as the Earis). Despite his words, Zaros to me sounds less.. insulting? Like usually when he says things like this, the tone of his voice feels like daggers, but this time he sounds more sincere about his concerns towards Earis’ potential reign. That sincerity I feel would make Earis break because they can’t help but believe him, like they always have at times like this. He wants them to have a moment of self-reflection, but they fear it beyond all else. They wouldn’t be able to stand not being the “perfect Earis” after all they’ve done for years was to try and get rid of any shred of their flawed self and play the part in order to not disappoint their mother. This then would lead to my theory that Earis is going to push themselves too hard (and inevitably collapsing) in training for the physical combat trial because they *cannot* fail buuuut that’s for later

I’ve been doing some thinking (I know, they’re not that common 😂) and, i remember when Zaros was talking about giving the public freedom or access to information like the garden with all the different types of plants (making medication or whatever) and the library with all the books with different types of knowledge and information with ideas on how to do different things or whatever. How to pretty much make things ‘better’. Wouldn’t that be bad in some cases tho? I mean, yeah! It’s good but not everyone is the same. Some people might use those knowledge to create something bigger than what the nobles or the ‘higher ups’ are capable of. In a bad way. For example, like nowadays. If making weapons becomes a worldwide knowledge thing, then wouldn’t that make things much more difficult? Like the crime rate will increase and more people will get hurt or injured or worse ☠️. Or making medicine. It’s a huge plus but what if things go wrong? What if they end up making a medicine that yes, can cure illnesses or make things better for people but can be harmful to others. People’s immune systems are all different. Some are weaker than others. And if they want to test out all the medicines, how? On dead people? With already sick people? And if yes with already sick patients, what if something goes horribly wrong and they ☠️ from it? Zaros is right to give the public the freedom and access to things that’s hidden within but some things are just not meant to be shared with the public. Yeah! Making weapons = protection. Making medicine = saving lives. But they can also all lead to death 💀 if things go south. Making weapons = can lead to war and crimes. Which can lead to deaths Making medicine = can lead to creating more dangerous poisons and toxins. Which can also lead to deaths. What’s so good about change if people can die from it. I know sacrifices needs to be made in some cases but for what? Everyone’s life should matter. (I’m also talking about the listener’s position about this as well) 🤷♀️ it’s just my opinion. Obviously I’m not thinking straight since it’s 5am rn and I’m so tired 🥱 but oh well 🤷♀️. 😅 byeee~

What’s more aggravating is what exactly does he expect the listener to do? Okay, they're governed by their insecurities. Who isn't? Idk if bro knows this, but he just described literally every human being on the Earth, including himself. The constant complaining and doomsaying without offering any alternatives or even any “well, maybe if you did this, then that would be better” or SOMETHING is tiring. Just a whole lot of whining. Like, we get it, the listener will be a tyrant. Noted. But more than that, this dude is lowkey implying that he would be a better ruler, which I find to be very arrogant. Yeah, he has some good ideas and is well-intentioned but lose the attitude please. Personally, I think they both would be shit rulers at the current state, but that's nothing some sweet sweet character development can't fix.😏
