why do i feel like in another crazy twist to all of the twists in this story is that Spy’s Lover was going to betray Spy and somehow them being replaced by Mageshifter “saves” Spy (from death but not torture).

2022-12-21 09:13:32 +0000 UTCFor the setting of the new audio, maybe it's modern day, but has a feudal structure (so there are nobles that govern regions) and instead of a prison it's a dungeon that's on the noble's estate, and the Mage-Shapeshifter we think is just a guard/interrogator is really the noble-person (because they're constantly taking on different forms so Spy doesn't realize it). Mage-as-Lover is "allowed" to patch up Spy after being interrogated by Mage-as-Guard. Spy exhausted by the interrogation falls asleep in Mage-as-Lover's arms, but wakes up to find them missing. And even though the Mage has imprisoned Spy and manipulated/tortured them, part of the Spy's Lover "lives on" in the Mage so that has them incredibly confused and can't fully hate them/may have feelings (wow that's so convoluted!)
