A Hidden Page...

One morning while Xanthus is preparing breakfast, you wander about the rooms and happen upon a small library filled with leather-bound books. They are dusty from neglect, but something catches your eye: a small portion of the first shelf is clean, presumably from the frequent removal of a book.

Carefully, you try and pull the spine from the row, inch by inch, but a single page wedged against it flutters to the floor...

It reads:

'28th August 1641

The weather proves warm as a year prior, yet I am null to its warmth; for the frozen breath seeps into my bones. I am enslaved to perpetual hunger of which no remedy can abstain, and foreign remnants of iron still linger upon my tongue that yearns for a deep embrace I cannot hope to flee. This is my atonement, punishment orchestrated by none other than the DEVIL.

I am damned to this fate.

I am unworthy of redemption, unworthy of life, unworthy of love. And I shall keep this promise to myself for as long as I am Lawrence Cleyburne.'

I have been wanting to do something like this for so long, but never knew how to do it until now with my trusty tablet! 

There is so much lore to dive into when it comes to certain characters, but Xanthus has a rich history I can't ignore. I find this also helps flesh him out as a character, and perhaps, you may come to understand him better in the future.

29/06/22 EDIT: So, I've given some thought after the Patreon livestream, and because I don't like to retcon things to the story unless it makes sense, I've needed to change something in Xanthus' lore.

This makes better sense for those who are trying to create Xanthus' timeline, and I'll be honest, I did confuse some dates until it was too late to do anything about it. Because of this, I want to update this now before it is completely canon in the stories through the audios!

I apologise for any confusion this might make! I'm still trying to understand how deep into a character's lore I should go before writing them, and this might have been an inevitable bump in the road. Hopefully this will be the one and only time I need to do this!
