News From the Six Realms #89 - Spring Setbacks

Hello all,

So the release was out on time, despite my dental problems, which is good, but it was a bit lighter on content than I hoped, and after discussing the issue with staff in the latest meeting, it looks like this isn't likely to change any time soon. I knew it was going to get difficult when Exagie had to step back. While I would like to get the first act finished ASAP, the reality of the situation at the moment is that with the long development time, most of my writers now either have real-life issues to deal with or are burned out after years of working on the same thing. This is unfortunate, but it is a very common problem in development, and as they say, the show must go on.

What this means, then, is that I need to find some new blood for the writing staff. We are looking to hire one to two new people, and if you are interested, please see below for the requirements:

- Able to commit to writing 10k words per release EVERY release
- Able to work from briefs (at least, initially)
- Willing to work with the other writing staff to make required edits
- Present on Discord to attend occasional meetings and contribute to the development of the narrative
- Working knowledge of the game/character/plot
- Some experience freelancing is a bonus

If you are interested, please email socwritingapps@gmail.com with a bit about yourself, why you'd like to work on the game, and one or two decent-sized examples of fiction you have written (either via link or attachment).

On to the release, as it currently stands for written content I only have a commitment from Rein that he will contribute another chunk of the Astarte event, and from Nyx that he'll continue with Helayna. I am going to try very hard to get the penultimate Andras NTR event done this time due to the direness of the situation, and both Winter and DarkMaster have said they will try to get something done. If I can hire at least one new writer by end of month, hopefully we'll be able to get something from them, but however it shakes out, I'll cobble together what I can and release on the 26th of May as usual. On the art side, thankfully, things are all plain sailing, and I'll start sharing sketches with the backers later today.

So that's all for today. Not the best news but we'll soldier on as always, and I'm confident we can solve this issue and push on to the end of Act I and then we can all start to get excited about Act II. Just to let you all know, I'm going on holiday from the 20th until the 26th, and I will respond to all messages and comments when I return.

Suggest posting this on the Steam forum in some capacity, as I know there are a few eager people there that have shown interest in writing for SoC before (and have demonstrated a good knowledge of the game, going by previous forum activity).

Goombas are sexist

I really hope Rein isn't burnt out and will stay in your team. I wish you luck and success in finding a great writer or two for your outstanding SoC.
