How Pharrell Became a GOAT Producer

That supercut of four-counts at the end left me with my mouth open. How did I never notice that before?! Great vid as always that sent me away with ten albums I needed to listen to, some for the first time, some for the first time in 20 years... Also, I bet it's just a weird coincidence, but the scansion of "Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder" at 8:34 is a fun echo of Black Star's Children's Story ("He jacked another and another..."). Maybe floating around in your unconscious somewhere?

Joshua Lewis

One of the first live concerts I ever streamed was Stevie Wonder. He kept asking Pharrell to sing Happy.

John Rodriguez

Anybody checkout his new movie yet? I caught it this weekend and highly recommend it. There was a lot to learn about his early childhood in Virginia Beach and some of the reason for the relative creative slumps in the early to mid 2010's. Plus his wife and parents share stories for perhaps the first time publicly.

How about point to Steteolab’s Dots and Loops? Or the fact he brought a very RnB element into hiphop, bridges that introduce borrowed chords to add harmonic complexity to the music. Maybe also his use of chromatic movement and extended chord voicings.

This man and the Neptunes sound is the main influence in my music production! Two Up Two Down! Shout-out to the 757 from the 434!

I always like things that are a bit different so I say Lil Uzi Vert - "Neon Guts".

Already know I'm going to enjoy this video. Already heard Clipse and now he's talking about the Neptunes. Pharrell is a great producer! Your videos are the best.

I know... the Neptunes are so good

Check out the Stevie Wonder record "Never In Your Sun" on his In Squared Circle album. It's like the Neptunes went back in time & sat in on that studio session.

Great video as always! Man I hate that they're not on speaking terms and I really hope they figure out.

He's been consistently great for 30 years - crazy!

Brandon Shaw

I read somewhere that The Neptunes produced 43% of all music on US radio in 2003. What a legacy!

Sandy Rivers

Dope video. I’ve been obsessed with Pharrel for a long time and you did him justice here.
