Decision on CGs

Hello all,

Thanks for all the responses. I don't have time to reply to them all individually, but I have read them all and taken what you had to say into account. I thought about it a lot and had a discussion with some of the other team members, and I have come to a decision.

Firstly, the rejected proposals:

Only make art for popular fetishes - We already have a mechanism to vote for popular content in the polls, and while it might make the game more successful, I'm not going to start only doing art for certain fetishes. Yes, I could probably make more money, but I could also make more money if I worked half as hard on a DAZ 3d incest weg with broken English dialogue. This game has enough content for everyone, and I am not willing to sell out backers with less popular fetishes, some of who have been supporting the game a long time.

Spend less on writing - When I started making this game, I clearly underestimated the amount of work it would take. I finally feel like we are moving at a good clip on the writing side, and it would be a mistake to slow down. I want Rosaria and all its associated story lines finished this year, otherwise I'll still be doing this when I'm sixty years old.

So, what I am going to do:

Cut most scenes down to 2 CGs - This seems sensible, and it cuts the workload immediately by a third. We can always do 3 if a scene is special or really needs it, but by making that a rarity instead of the norm, we reduce the CGs needed massively.

Do some CGs in a less finished format - From now on, the plan is:

3 CGs in full colour a month, chosen by the backer poll
6 CGs in "line art" form from older scenes

By doing this, we can do 9 a month, which will at least stop us from falling behind any further, and hopefully if things improve in future, we can begin to colour them / catch up.

Finally, a lot of people seemed to take the last post negatively, and that was not how it was intended. We will continue to work on this game as we have for the past few years, there is no chance of that changing. We just need to be realistic about funding and resources, which is why I wanted to get your thoughts and opinions, but development will go forward, just as it always has.

Thanks for the kind words , John. We do our best to deliver in a consistent basis so we keep our communications as clear as possible. :) Hopefully we'll manage to outpace the prior year's output and I, personally, am excited for this year's grind. :D

I'm really glad that y'all are a dedicated team who is looking to create a quality game, and informs us of you decisions. That is unfortunately rare.

I'm happy; I think your team is immensely talented, and the line art approach will definitely make headway into that backlog!

Funky Munky

Hey Ise, Unfortunately, no art yet for the newest appoach in this update as this is fairly a recent decision , when we saw th recent backlogs that we're going to catch up on, but I'm fairly certian the first one will be one earliest of next month. :)

Sommelier

I, for one, trust your judgements as a producer (hence my investment), Arioch. I think your solution is going to be the most successful out of a series of not so great options. A couple of things. 1) do we have a sample of what the line art will look like yet? I know this decision just came down the pipeline and Sommy might not have had time to produce any yet but I am curious. 2) It sounds like you have a timeline where you want the writing done by the end of this year. Is that schedule in stone? And do you have separate timelines for the programming and art? With 6 and change kingdoms to write, with multiple outcomes and side stories, that deadline feels pretty aggressive. Feel free to refer me to an earlier post if this timeline isn't actually new news. 3) I've been meaning to ask this one for awhile. What is the impact of our votes on the story? Are we just choosing the order of scenes you are planning on? Or are actually choosing to include/exclude certain scenes and stories? As much as I dig Alexia's corruption story and basically anything where Helayna is mentioned, knowing my impact will change the way I vote since I crave more characters with Alexia and Helayna's depth. Again, if this is posted somewhere, I may have just been too lazy to research it. 4) Thanks for jumping in and adding a few comments, Sommy. =)

Isefesira

Sex scenes only, we'll continue to add backgrounds and sprites as usual.

Lord Arioch

I forget, do CG's only refer to sex scenes or does that include background and "world" art? Honestly the CG's are good for a fap but the other art assets and writing are what keep me interested.

Kobold Lad

Keep up the good work guys, you are making the best H-game in the market and I hope you get more supporters eventually.

Sihil

HI, Dakota!, I'm really sorry to hear this but I'll make sure that the sketches , at least on my part, will be rather different quality from the usual WIP arioch posts .

Sommelier

But without writing the scenes first, there will be no art to do. The art and the game are reliant on pushing the plot and content forward. Writing is an essential part of the game's progression that, like what Arioch said, it'll bloat more years to finish the whole game and you guys pledge for the game's progress and we're trying to avoid the congestions that will happen.

Sommelier

I am one person, and I have not been able to pledge much. But I am sad to hear about the CGs. That really made this game pop out from all the other games I've seen. In my eyes, it is cutting the quality of the game in order to get it finished faster. But no hate, I get that you made the decision based off of what everyone was saying.

Dakota Mitchell

Screw the writing, worry about your CGs. Nothing worse than a black screen.

Ya Boi
