News From The Six Realms #2 - Releases, Future Plans, and More

Hey guys,

Time for this week's update. Everything is coming along nicely, I'm just waiting on other people to get the new backer release out, but I'm hoping to be able to get it to the backers in the next two weeks. In terms of the public release, I've come to a decision  - public releases will always be one release behind the backer release. This way, people will always have the option to pledge at the $5 level and get new content immediately, while the free version will usually only be 1-2 months behind. I know everyone has different opinions on this, but I've thought a lot about it, and I feel it is a fair compromise. 

Moving on, now the save issues have been resolved, the castle has been rounded out, and spying has been added, the next focus will be increasing the size of the map. As you can see from the work in progress above, I'm planning to triple the size of the map, and give you guys a lot more to explore / capture. This represents about half of Rosaria for any of you wondering about scale, and is around 500-550 hexes. We'll have to write quite a few more resource events as well. Once that is done, we can get back to working on increasing the turn count, as well as implementing the job system (and the other planned gameplay features).

In other news, I now have three new CGs that'll be in the next release, including the winner of the patreon vote, Jezera x Alexia, and MDN is currently working on one of the others (Andras x Rowan) which might also be ready in time. It will also have five new sex scenes, all of which include different kinks, so plenty to look forward to on that front. :)

It is a mix of both at the moment. We will be adding roads at a later date, which will give a better sense of direction for things like villages and river bridges.

So I was kind of just wandering around aimlessly in the public build trying to find areas I hadn't visited yet. I think I also backtracked some areas. I wasn't sure exactly whether there were only fixed 'event' locations in obvious areas (buildings, mines) or also hidden fixed ones (forests, plains, etc.). I ended up assuming the latter were random events. I also kind of got lost on how to cross certain river areas.

I very much like the possibility to explore more then you can bite off before the time to size the keep runs out. It seems to give the world more credebility and a source for future playthroughs.

yeah, think so too. At least all the events should have their own CGs etc. before the map is getting an upgrade.

It might not be wise to increse the map so much. Remeber you only have 6 months to take the first castle. Going at one hex a day it would take almost 2 years to explore everthing, even more if you need to backtrack.

When it comes to upping the turn count, you could effectively add more turns without having too make too many extra events if you just add some repeatable (not too repeatable) events. there are already certain events that can be used as repeatable events in the game (such as andras coming to rowan for "release"). It can give the player the option to see what other choices may do or they can just choose the same option as they did last (with a tiny bit of alteration to the text)
