Roadmap Update

Hello all,

Hopefully those of you who got the last release have had some time to play it and enjoyed it. You are a quiet bunch, but you are still here and I've had no complaints, so I can only assume it is going okay. :) Those of you who haven't gotten it yet, the public release will be out on the 11th, and hopefully you'll enjoy it then.

I'd just like to talk today about the current state of development. I find these posts useful to me for setting goals, and I'm sure some of you like to know where the game is going, so I think it is worth sharing. Things are going pretty well in terms of achieving the goals I set for the game in the last few months. The map is working as planned, the castle overhaul is well on the way, and there's already over 50 events in the game. The plan over the next few months is to keep adding more content, while slowly working in additional gameplay features.

Next release (end of Feb / early March) - General content release similar to the last one. Week count will be upped to 18, and there will be six new ruler events (two of which will be sex scenes), along with a number of exploration and resource events. Three new resources will be introduced (Orc Camp / Winery / Abbey). New items.

Goal #2 release (end of March / early April) - Introduction of the Raeve Keep conquest storyline and the debut of Helayna. Week count will be upped to 24, and there will be a number of new ruler and exploration events.

Post goal #2 releases (end of April / following few months) - Northern Rosaria (Region #2), and the backer chosen Orc-iad narrative. Introduction of the NPC job system, the infiltration mechanism, and the monster lair resource. Debut of nemesis #1 (Zerias). Week count will continue to increase as more events are added each month.

Lastly, a quick word about saving - I know it sucks to have to restart everytime at the moment, but there isn't much I can do about this until the first map is locked in. What is holding that up, unfortunately, is money. At the current rate of support, you should be able to save your progress on the first map when the first post goal #2 release comes out (end of April-ish). If there's a spike in support, it'll be sooner, but considering the slow progress so far on that front, probably best not to get your hopes up. The good news is, since I'll have most of the base tiles, I'll need less new ones for future regions (in Rosaria, anyway), so these should be 'savable' in a shorter amount of time than it has taken for the first region.

Comments

Yes that's exactly my problem thanks for clarifying the problem. Well, I guess I'll just play on my laptop.

All the castle staff will be getting multiple scenes.

Lord Arioch

Well, the problem he was having was this - https://i.imgsafe.org/4603261f4e.jpg which sounds like your own. It was to do with his graphics chip, and in the end the only way he could get around it was playing the game on a different computer.

Lord Arioch

I haven't had a chance to play it through yet. I will take a look and see what is new. One question, will there be development of existing characters beyond the scenes included already? It seems you can't do much with the goblin or any of the other henchmen you acquire.

really, how so. what exactly was the problem they had. was it that the card was to old.

Drakeulous

Hey Kane, Someone else had this problem and it turned to be an issue with their graphics card.

Lord Arioch

Hey RK, No worries on the funding front, understand these things happen, and I appreciate the support. Am working on re-adding the rest button, will see about enabling save as well.

Hi. Lord Arioch. I wanted to say that sometimes I have to disconnect my backing in the end of the month due to financial situation (paychecks are arriving a bit later after Patreon backing period). I know that some creators are not happy about things like that, so I hope you're not holding a grudge for this. With these small gaps I still backed the game continuously since summer and it's really amazing how it's shaping up. You really came a long way since early prologue times. I have high hopes for game's future. However I want to reiterate thing I said early in the release post's comments. I thing "rest" or "skip week" button is really needed since we have now more events then days and you won't get all of them in the single playthrough, I checked this out. Map is also too small to keep constantly exploring, so you have to load and walk aimlessly to skip weeks and get some events. Also you said before that saving during events is not the idea you aprecciate and I understand that. But now if you want to see different results of some event, you will have to load, wait for this event again and pick another choice. I assume this problem will get worse since art for different scenes starts to get going (2 variants of X'Zaratl scene, for example, I assume they will have different pictures). Getting all of them will be troublesome for a player unlike story events (like throneroom scene) when you can simply load save from before. Maybe it's worthy allow players save in events at least during this period of development and remove this option later? It's your choice, but I think it would allow for easer access to new content. Thank you for your hard work.

hey, I recently just found your game and have found it to be quite enjoyable but I seem to be haveing a small problem. the problem is with the Research menu. the name of the options are blank with only the things in the four corners being visible, the descriptions in the right bar are also invisible. are you guys using a special font I have to download or is it something else?
