This Week in the Forest! #42

Starting with a word from Vixel!
8/23 weekly report:
Last week I worked on leftover scripting and triggering for post-Act2 idle conversations for all the critters. (After the end of Act 2, critter idles will automatically change flavor to better reflect the story's new plot points and the latest turn of events.)
I also did some new scripting and triggering for Dustin Minigame's Novice mode (special scoring, dialogue, and one-off cutscene events), and added a game over screen (unlike Training mode, players will have limited hits in Novice mode!)
Earlier in the week, I also took a detour to add a database system in a second Unity project I'll be using later to modernize old code and reduce opportunity for bugs. There have been a LOT of bugs reported in recent months and the game's scripting has gotten overloaded with "spaghetti code" to hold us over until we have time for a proper code cleanup. After we publish Act 2, the plan is to overhaul problem areas while simultaneously delivering monthly builds with new Act 3 content on our regular schedule, migrating Acts 1 and 2 to the new Unity project with all the latest and greatest tools & workflows.

On my end, I finished up the illustrations for this month's poll, featuring Rascal and the Coyotes! Pretty spicy I might add :>
But mainly I was hitting up a ton of animations. We wanna hit the ground running whenever we get to act 3, so I wanna get a buncha animated roughs lined up for that push whenever that happens.

This is featuring that Arctic Fox that I had a sneak peak of before. Her name is Melody, and isn't in the game yet.
But she's rockin' it ;)
