Developer Update #13

The time has come for another Developer Update discussing the progress of the update and the content that will be included in the version 5 of Domination Desire: Banished.
First, a quick list of the things that will be added/changed the V5. The update will be focused on story content but additionally it will include a revamp of the weapons, armor, skills and loot overall. Two new enemies: Succubus Dreamwalker and Night Fairy. New content for existing characters: Mnemosyne, Leilah and Erelia. New areas to explore: an expansion to Scattered Castle, Clearspring Village (+ its surroundings: shore, abandoned mine) and Clearspring Forest South. Redesign of Lilliet, the winner of the Community Poll #5. Of course there will be some tweaks and bugfixes as well.
The equipment and skill revamp main purpose is to improve the weapon affixes, provide better power progression and make the weapon types more different from one another. The revamp will feature significant changes to the weapons and armor the player will find in the game world, a new weapon type (blunt weapons) and a wide array of new skills and spells player will be able to use in the game. For weapons and armor the main plan is to reduce the number of different suffixes weapons can get and make them more meaningful and introduce new grades for each weapon type. This will reduce the name clutter of the gear in the inventory and make it easier to distinguish a good weapon from a common one. The weapon types were changed to encourage different playstyles. Each weapon has new weapon type exclusive skills that can be found in game either as quest rewards or loot. Swords are a balanced weapon that support both magic and physical skills, Axes will offer a range of different ways of dealing high physical damage while encouraging fighting on low HP. Spears will be also melee focused but will require the player to balance their strength and agility in order to efficiently use. Daggers rely on critical damage and enable the player to utilise their items like bombs, poison or throwing daggers better. Maces provide the highest damage both but penalize the player with high stamina cost and agility reduction. Bows are versatile weapons that can deal many types of damage or inflict debuffs but require different arrows in order to do so. Staves remain mostly the same, primarily focusing on magical damage but with more spells in the player arsenal. Armors were split to heavy, light and robes that complement the weapon playstyle.
It's also worth mentioning that V5 will include merchants and gold as a resource that would be found in chests, but also dropped on player defeat. The merchants will provide an access to different grades of gear and consumables like potions, arrows or throwable items, all for a fair price of course. Most of these merchants will be found in the Clearspring Village that will house the majority of quests featured in V5.
When it comes to progress, I have 70% of the maps already created and populated with npcs, with Cleaspring Village interiors and Scattered Castle left to do. Still gotta work on the quests for new areas. The new skills are complete and uder initial testing. Weapon types and changes to suffixes are almost complete, still gotta do some work on them and then I'll update the chest loot. When it comes to scenes, I'm still in the rendering phase, when it comes to the new enemies both are about 60% complete. Still gotta do most of the scenes for Leilah and Mnemosyne, but in Mnemosyne's case a lot of prep work has been done, so the rest of the work should go smoothly. I also did a touch up on her existing scenes. Content for Erelia is mostly done, it's worth noting that she will get only a couple of scenes in the update. The redesign of Liliett is also nearing completion with only a few scenes remaining to update. Overall the work is going good apart from technical difficulties with Daz3d (the software I use to create the renders) which set me back few days at least. However, the issues were dealt with and a lesson was learned :D.
