Hey there, nudies! Apologies for the delay! Been a rough personal week, but that's not going to stop us over here!
We ran into a bit of a tech issue trying to implement 3D portraits. Bit hard to explain, but basically Invertex had to figure out how to show a 3D view in 2D overlayed on top of the current 3D view. It took a lot of extra code writing and editing, but eventually we figured it out! Only to realize it looked... a little flat.
We wanted to go with 3D portraits so that we could more easily reflect customizations on Amber, but it was looking a little boring. We experimented with a few different approaches - moving Amber around, adding backgrounds, various effects. But after a lot of trial and error and a whole group discussion, we settled on what you see above!
The background on the sides move, and Amber has a cool sketchy white shadow to really make her model pop! I'm REALLY happy with how this came out. It's gonna look even better once her clothes are off~
Now that that's done and figured out, it's back to building these cutscenes and coding out the rest of the demo. We've also just about wrapped up the next major area, the town hall. Bear gave it some really nice textures that you can just feel by looking at 'em. Check it out!
Just a few more touches and this area will be DONE! After that, it's on to the beach!
