New Year's Resolution

This year had been quite the turbulent year. We were pretty active in the first 2/3 of the year, but tapered off a bit toward the end. I remained active on Discord, which a few of you may have been aware of it, but the Patreon was put in a bit of neglect.

The past few months have been spent working on side projects similar in theme to Roshutsu. None of them ever came to fruition, but I was sharing development of them on the Discord server and Twitter. I had forgotten to give Patreon attention despite it being my literal income stream.

The side projects have been valuable experience, but with nothing to show for them it didn't give a good look to the project. Everything seemed dormant until December's recent update, which pulled some things from the side projects into Roshutsu, however it was only partially implemented. The core problem I've been chasing for months has been the character controller - which would allow far more options such as crouching and crawling - and has been troublesome to integrate into the existing code base.

Going into the New Year, I want to get back into the pattern of posting more regularly on Patreon. So I ask: what would you like to see posted more frequently?

Having updates on current plants and polls for what we want to see next would be reassuring. When I finally did check Twitter after a few months of silence on Patreon, I wasn't super excited to find out that other projects were being worked on without a heads up on Patreon so even updates regarding side projects would be nice.

How about small realisable monthly goals? You could have five or six things you want to work on and people vote on what they want to see. Achievable things like a new area, a train station, a school map, time controls, AI pathing improvements etc. Even if you don't get a thing done at the end of the month, you could say "I got this much done, and I think in another month I can do this". Doesn't need to take up all of the dev time, just a side goal. You don't have to have a complete plan for everything before you build it out. I think there is already enough there to build on.

Well holidays is a good excuse :) Still am willing to contribute to this project. For example: If you can provide UV Maps of the clothes maybe the Com could repaint them to make at least a bit of variety in color for Rikas clothing.

I would like to see a weekly development log; a summary of what has been worked on during the week. That can be something as simple as brainstorming/ screen captures of your Unity suite/ a flowchart, anything to give your supporters confidence in your progress. I would also like to see you poll us for your ideas/ direction of the game. I've been following your Twitter and it seems as though you're trying to chase too many ideas, which may stray too far away from the reason why we chose to financially support you in the first place. I personally don't want a witch game or whatever (or really any story at all), I just like the idea you already have, just add new locations and they don't have to be contiguous. You can better narrow your focus by interacting with your financial backers. You have to actively communicate with us. Not everyone uses discord or Twitter. I don't want you to fail, but you have to do better

I want to try getting back into the rhythm of monthly releases, however December has been a very busy time that hadn't given me much time to work on things, making a January release seem much less likely.

I want to get back into the habit of updating the Patreon more. I post a lot of things on Discord that doesn't make its way to Patreon that I'm sure many would find interesting.

I love looking at your interactions on discord but I feel monthly would be a very fair update even if they are small/rough insights it would be a lot better than nothing

I'd like to get some rough plans. What is the current focus of development (maybe once a month?). What are you trying to bring next into the game. I really like the short videos showcasing stuff you're working on on discord. Also some goals for the future would be great. I.e. getting out a new build every X months. If you can't achieve that goal or have to postpone it, it's fine, but a direction and a rough estimation would just give me the feeling, that something is happening :)
