Friday the 13thmentary Part 2

On our latest Halloween-time commentary, we’re talking over the silly, smash-hit sequel, Friday the 13th Part 2!

Released in 1981, and set in a futuristic 1985, five years after the events of the first film, this is the one where some counselors are coming to Crystal Lake to train for an upcoming, fun-filled summer season, when a somehow-still-alive Jason, wearing a potato sack over his head, starts picking them off one by one! We’ve also got an amazingly rockin’ townie bar, the return of Crazy Ralph, a guy wearing a super-silly hat at all times, an overly-long cold open, and even a few pretty creative kills!

Friday the 13th Part 2 stars Amy Steel, John Fury, Adrienne King, Kirsten Baker, Stuart Charno, Warrington Gillette, Marta Kober, Tom McBride, Bill Randolph, Lauren-Marie Taylor, Russell Todd, Betsy Palmer, and Walt Gorney as Crazy Ralph; directed by Steve Miner.

If you’d like to watch along with us, we’ve got our video synced up at the 00:00:05 mark of the feature. You can see the old Paramount mountain logo with the “A Gulf + Western Company” at the bottom. And on this audio track, the actual commentary portion starts at the 00:04:42 mark.

Thanks for being the kick-ass Patreon supporter that you are! We know you have a lot of options when you're watching stuff, and we're stoked you decided to sync up with us for this movie!

Jason was going to attack before ten minutes into the film but every time he looked in the window to see Alice she was still in a flashback.

I worked for Cracker Barrel for a brief period and I promise after hours of "training" you absolutely KNOW that guy's name IS Uncle Herschel.

Not sure if I’m being reactive but….CHUDmentary has been knocked down to the #2 all-time commentary spot behind our new king in this commentary. The scene of the cop running through the woods had me cackling like an evil witch

RJ Cunningham

The dinner roll orange juice had me dying

Gregory Baffuto

What an amazing commentary, was laughing the whole time

My personal headcanon believes Amy Steel plays the same character in Howie Mandel's Walk Like a Man. She tames Mandel's Bobo the same way she calms Jason here.

CharlesGrodin'sToupee

Always loved this cute fit on Jason. This movie saw The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

Funny thihen they promised a Friday surprise in the weekly update my first thought was 'I wonder if this is Tulsa King S3 related.' After all, Sly is spooky in his own way. 😅

johnny stocker

Its been a good week. On Patreon.

MarkNM

The sad part about me is I listened to this without watching because I’ve seen it so many times I know exactly what’s happening by the comments. You panty spoilers 😂

Christina Z (StevieWayne16)

The guy playing the cop thought he was gonna be a huge star

Mike Kling

Hardly ever do the commentary along with the movie but since its my special boy jason

David Thompson

Genuinely so thrilled to see this pop up today! I lamented the realization that I am travelling at the end of the month and would have to wait a bit to enjoy the commentary if it came out then. But now I'll have an evening of the first and second movie commentaries tonight. 🥳

Busiris

“Every town needs a Crazy Ralph,” says the Crazy Ralph of the group. ❤️

Derek Baxter

What a surprise! [WINK WINK]

Tim O'

An early commentary drop? Its a Spooktacular miracle!

CharlesGrodin'sToupee

Damn I literally put this on yesterday because I was like " oh the commentary won't drop until the end of the month" fuck it. Run it back!

LoganTheWise

Commentaries don't usually drop until the end of the month, so stoked we got this early! Can't wait to listen this evening..

James Mariner

Fuck, and, yes! Started my new job and got a new WHM-mentary within a few days? Can't believe the luck! America's made it to its fascist era, mind you, which is, less cool and genuinely terrifying. Why I'll bet we'll soon wish we had drowning victim Jason Voorhees chasing after us instead. Love you guys, love these commentaries. So happy to have them in what feel like the last days of life as we've known it. Stay safe out there everybody.
