The Nexus #109 "The Ambergris Element" / "The Host"

First up on TOS TAS, we're chatting about the pretty neat episode, "The Ambergris Element," which originally aired back on December 1, 1973. This episode takes place mostly underwater and introduces a Starfleet submarine, has a lot of trippy visuals, and features a bunch of green sea creatures that Kirk not once tries to make romantic advances toward!
Then across the Neutral Zone on TNG, we're talking about the Dr. Crusher-centric episode, "The Host." Premiering on May 13, 1991, this episode has Dr. Bev unknowingly falling in love with a Trill symbiote creature, Riker doing some cool shuttle piloting, Troi being mediocre at her job again, and Picard getting so jealous, he's as red as his uniform!

2025-09-29 12:29:51 +0000 UTCThis TOS TAS made me think of the Dark Mirror novel. Where Picard and the crew are escorting a dolphin to another planet until they meet the evil version of the enterprise. There is a whole section where the dolphin is talking with Geordi about mackerel 😂
