Gleep Glossary: A Star Wars Story #78 - Andor Season 2

On this very special edition of our Star Wars Gleep Glossary, we're chatting about the second season of Andor in its entirety! (Of course, spoilers abound!)

Was this release schedule beneficial, annoying, or downright terrible? How amazing is the writing throughout the entire show? Isn't it great how quickly Mon Mothma gets comfortable dressing like a forest-dwelling rebel? How amazing is the end of Syril and Dedra? How fascinating is this Gorman language? Have Ben Mendelsohn and/or Stellan Skarsgård ever been better? And how cold does your blood run when we start hearing people say "Death Star" on this show?

Gleep Glossary: A Star Wars Story is a show where the guys try to honor the history and legacy of Star Wars characters, most of whom we've been told don't matter anymore!

Thank you for being so incredible by continuing to support this weird, wild adventure we're on! You make this all possible! We know you have lots of options when choosing which pods you listen to and we very much appreciate you carving out some time for us!

Would’ve enjoyed a FoxNews equivalent network to represent Imperial views. Equipped with a gleep glop anchor named Cucker Tarlson and dozens of Cerveza Crystal ads

Graham Trainor

Oh, got it. Now I'll have to go back and re-watch that scene. Thanks for clarifying that Mathew! - Andrew

Ooh, got it. Thanks for clarifying, John! - Andrew

I thought they did pretty well with Syril. We got a real sense of his upbringing and his drive to try and impress his eternally disappointed mother

Craig

The scene with Whitaker and Wilmon is that they're huffing fuel vapours.

Matthew Lloyd

Just found a near mint copy of the Star Wars essential guide to characters at a garage sale for 5 bucks! Now i can follow along and fact check in real time!!

Paul Heidtman

Luthen and Mon were more interesting characters than Andor imo. Think there was a missed opportunity to give one of Syril or Dedra a little more humanity. Though I guess anyone climbing the ranks of a fascist Galactic Empire is of necessity a psycho.

Jason

In the scene where Wilmon takes off his mask, he's getting high off of the ridonium fuel they're extracting, at Saw's urging. For Saw, it's an "initiation ritual" for committing even further to the rebellion. He's long since developed an addiction to inhaling the ridonium; I feel this partially explains his zealotry and intensity, and it also seems to fuel and sustain him as a rebel fighter.

John King

The last half hour is a blueprint for a Rogue Squadron movie. Also Hammerhead Corvettes are the coolest ships in the known universe

Lance Flexington

Rogue one is not a mess.

J HEASLEY

Skarsgard had so many incredible lines but my personal favourite was his response to Mon Mothma’s “I’m not sure what you’re saying.” “How nice for you.” Said so much about both characters at that point in the story.

Craig

I loved this discussion about the season. Particularly since I just binged the Book of Buddy Friend coverage and the comparison of the two cannot be further apart. On the one hand you have minor criticisms about something that's still really good. On the other, you have a series that is so increasingly frustrated it's entertaining. I'd cut off the hand of the Boba one even though it was funny to hear Eric lose his mind, and then it could get a cool robot attachment.

Lance Flexington

To answer why we don't see Saw's back story, it is because Lucas Film has decided to use him as a throughline of all post-prequel's pre-Original Trilogy projects. He of course debuts in The Clone Wars, and I believe has a couple of follow-up episodes in that show, he is also in Rebels, the video game Jedi: Fallen Order, and in Rogue One and Andor. To the point of not letting the nudges get in the way, they previously adapted Mothma's speech and her escape from the senate in Clone Wars. In that episode Gold Squad saved her, something they nod to when the one general tells Andor that they'll give credit to Gold Squad for what Andor did.

Palpalago?

I thought the release for this season worked as they all worked as their own mini arcs. It was better to space each arc week by week than dumping it all at once.

"Sheeve Palpatine died on his way back to his home planet of Naboo."

CharlesGrodin'sToupee

Andor is the best because it does show *why* someone would risk their life to take political action. Actual material conditions behind the motivations compel you to pick up a rifle (or in this case a blaster) and face down this crushing entity. Great episode guys, the treatment this show deserves

Aaron Dowler

The way Steve pronounces Mario. I could listen to it all day.

DRKITTENPHD

When Palpatine isn't on screen all the other characters should say "Where's Palpy?"

Barista Bran

I hope you tied him down first, sport.

MarkNM

Like a Jack In The Box taco.

MarkNM

I fucked a kangaroo and named my son Skippy.

Enrico Palazzo

I didn’t mind the release schedule or time jumps. It was kind of like having four separate 90-minute Andor movies. In Empire, you don’t see how the Hoth base was set up etc, it’s just there and you go with it.

Craig

Too Gleep to Glossary! Andor is the best Star Wars content right now, and the Gleep Glossary is the worst. But like the worst in a good way....
