2024-11-26 01:37:41 +0000 UTCAs an adult, holy shit do Bert Lahr and Ray Bolger put on fucking spectacular performances. Knowing they’re the farmhands and getting to compare it to them in Oz, damn. Especially Bert Lehr. It’s legitimately tough to picture him as the lion after seeing his real self. Jack Haley didn’t really say anything as a farmhand so can’t praise as much. But damn. Maybe the world’s greatest movie in the entirety of its legacy. And Lehr and Bolger giving all-century level performances is part of the reason. I honestly don’t know if I’d have rewatched this anytime in the foreseeable future, and probably haven’t seen in its entirety since I was a young child, so very glad to have a reason to throw this on because this was one of the most fulfilling movie viewings I’ve had in some time. I love this movie
