Once In A Lifetime #21 "Danger in the Dorm"

"This movie is like...if Lifetime just really Lifetime'd-up Scream 2" - Andrew

On this episode of our every-other-month Lifetime Movie recap show, we're chatting about the completely ridiculous campus thriller, Danger in the Dorm! Is this film particularly inept, even by Lifetime standards? Was the majority of Bethenny Frankel's direction in this movie just for her to yell at everyone? In what year is this movie supposed to take place? Why is the dean of this college doing seven different full-time jobs on campus? And is the school administration throwing out that girl's memorial at the start of summer break or what? PLUS: The great debate continues: established celebs starring in these movies or entire casts full of kind, gentle, Canadian nobodies only?

Danger in the Dorm stars Bethenny Frankel, Clara Alexandrova, Jason Fernandes, Grace Vukovic, Jeffrey Pai, Michelle Creber, Matthew Nelson-Mahood, Milo Shandel, and Lily Yawson as Detective Harken; directed by Robin Hays.

Once In A Lifetime is a bi-monthly (every-other month) WHM podcast where the gang watches some outrageous Lifetime (and Lifetime-adjacent) movies and attempts to sift through the madness within.

Detective Harkonen…. When is a brick not a brick?

Jamie Lochner

I keep starting and stopping this movie but even with doing work at the same time this movie is so fucking boring I can’t hardly last 20 minutes each time.

Jamie Lochner

Everyone in this movie is constantly freaking out if anyone is left alone. It’s called college, people get single rooms and are alone at times.

Jamie Lochner

I do know a Kathleen but she's about 40 so

Metalupis

That is literally the worst movie I've viewed in the past two years. By farrrrrrrr.

Mark Ibarra

Trust me guys, this was set in exactly 1994. Peak of grunge, the exact year Cobain died. Clothes, hair, and phone technology are exactly '94.

johnny stocker

I gotta say, I thought it was cool to get to hear a bit of the WHM guys’ backgrounds if only briefly. I know it comes out in drips and drabs throughout the catalog but I’m personally all for more of it.

Milan

I only know of Bethany Frankel from people on twitter posting that video of her eating shellfish https://pagesix.com/2023/07/26/bethenny-frankel-posts-video-scarfing-down-seafood-in-hotel-room/

Tommy Green

On the rarest of occasions, Lifetime movies can actually be a starting point for later career success. Austin Butler and Sydney Sweeney are examples of that...it'd be fun to hear you guys do a few "before they were famous" movies in that mould.

Z

To show how quickly our political hellscape is accelerating: when Andrew made a Hannibal Lecter reference I was shocked there was no "Late, great" follow-up.

I.C. Weiner

My college never had any clubs, radio stations, or dorms. We had plenty of pervy professors, though.

Eren Keskin

For all the times I fell asleep during it

Rod

And don't forget! It's a three day rental! A whole THREE days

Ray

Was this directed by Chris Weitz? The editing and slow motion and everything reminds me of Twilight 😂

Ray

This sounded like it was a real pos, oof. Thanks for taking one for us again.

TDB

Aww, it was cute hearing about y’all being friends in college. Adorbs. Also: I was looking at this month’s lifetime movie releases and there looks to be some good ones you guys might enjoy doing in the future.

Lar

It's a TV movie from the 70s and not technically a Lifetime movie, but I wonder if Bad Ronald could be covered in this sideshow? I think it fits (plus it has Dabney Coleman)

Felipe Sobreiro

This was $3 to rent or $4 to buy. I rented it.

Rod

Aw yeah, love seeing new chapters in the "WHM Origins Saga" with all the college talk. Always enjoy hearing those little anecdotes.

Busiris

Great episode💗 This movie started like my number one stay tuned for y’all, 2001’s Soul Survivors: The Killer Cut. Praying it makes the main feed some day🙏

Jamie

A other lifetime movie you guys should look out for is a movie called psycho stripper

Arthur martinez

Nice mention you should do a WLM on the Cable Guy.

Mike Kling

Sure I love you, like I love Fresca!

Jaime Lee Ezell

Did parts of this plot description remind anyone else of Dead Man on Campus?

Chelsea Johnson

All the anachronistic tech talk made me imagine this movie taking place in purposely disorienting "It Follows" type world

Chris Rose

Appreciate the it's alright for Anna and the Apocalypse. Filmed in my shitty hometown in Scotland 🙂

David Thompson

As a avid real housewives connoisseur I love me some crazy Bethany Frankel

Arthur martinez

What a mess of a movie
