2024-07-03 11:50:37 +0000 UTCEric's comment on this film looking like shit is noteworthy, because the big difference between this and the original Paul Blart is that this was shot on digital, whereas the latter was among the last batch of studio comedies to be shot on film. Neither of these have any sort of visual panache, but it's striking to see just how much better a craftless dumb comedy looked on film versus digital: none of that horrid shallow depth-of-field was in the first Paul Blart, for example, because you just had to put more effort into making everything look legible.
