Once In A Lifetime #20 "Unwed Father"

"Why is a houseboat always an indicator that a character has hit rock bottom?" - Andrew

On this edition of Once In A Lifetime, we're chatting about the Brian Austin Green high drama baby tale, Unwed Father! How hilariously bad is this band B.A.G. has here? Should this teen girl have gone with this total stranger to a mysterious boat on the docks at night? How hilarious are all his bandmate loser characters trying to cut this demo? Are these the worst parents we've seen on OIAL in a while? And who else was on Team Gina here? PLUS: Major LOL to the part where B.A.G.'s character is bullied by the other fathers!

Unwed Father stars Brian Austin Green, Nicholle Tom, Isabella Hofmann, Fay Grant, Ari Meyers, and Alan Rachins as Don Kempler; directed by Michael Switzer.

Once In A Lifetime is a bi-monthly (every-other month) WHM podcast where the gang watches some outrageous Lifetime (and Lifetime-adjacent) movies and attempts to sift through the madness within.

MacGyver had a houseboat, and I don't think he was ever at rock bottom.

Dr. Beck would never pull something like this. As a medical professional, he believes in wrapping it up. But hey, at least the boat was real.

Eren Keskin

This is the same guy who not only licensed "Whip It" to Swiffer, but performed the parody jingle himself. Mark Mothersbaugh will take your check.

Oh, dear, yeah that sounds terrible! - Andrew

You guys touched on the Entourage podcast and I can say, as someone who has listened to it, it is as bad as you could imagine. Not only is it Doug Ellin and Kevin Dillon hosting it, you’ve got E himself on the ones and twos in the engineer’s chair and he’a putting in his two cents as well as doing the ad reads. As you may have imagined, there’s a fair bit of “yeah in this climate I don’t know if we could make this show today” type shit. Also they lack focus and don’t get too in-depth on the actual content of the episodes they cover, unsurprisingly

Aaron Dowler

Mark Mothersbaugh must've gotten wheelbarrows of cash delivered to his house in exchange for doing the music for this. Devo wasn't exactly paying the bills in the 90s.

You really should watch Deadly Mile High Club. It's absolutely bonkers :)

Hard To Gwil

You know these movie made Megan Fox's panties drop

I don't think the writers know anything.. I was going to continue that sentence but that sounds right.

I haven't watched a single film from the OILT... but I've listened to every episode 😅

I never saw this, but I remember watching a pretty similar movie called Daddy starring Patricia Arquette (whom I had recently fell in love with in Nightmare 3) and Dermot Mulroney. Not a Lifetime movie at the time, but very Lifetime vibes (but a much better cast).

Walshie for life(time)! 👶🏼

Love when OIAL episodes have main cast actors from Melro210. Its like a 2 for 1. David and Donna both have had great OIAL episodes! And as you mentioned Brenda has a bunch of these movies, sure she will pop up in OIAL at some point. On another note, Kickboxer 2 is worth a high watch, it is pretty crazy. Kickboxer 3 and 4 are even crazier, and Sasha Mitchell is an amazingly horrible actor.

Matt Reid

The other guys have watched all of that show. I dropped off during the first season for no real reason, thought it was funny. But they all dig Eric's performance on the show! - Andrew

Adam Christensen

U guys see Eric Roberts in Rightous Gemstones, opposite John Goodman?

I was surprised that I ended up not hating this. Not good, but not awful. It ended up growing on me as it went along. The two parents were absolutely terrible people though. That poor child!
