Patreon Poll for the Weekend of March 15

Oh, my was this a long week, y'all! So stoked to finally be at Friday, for sure. Hey, so this weekend at the movies, we gotta stay prayed up, because Mark Wahlberg is back in theaters and this time he's bringing a canine companion with him!

That's right, this weekend sees the opening of Mark Wahlberg's feel-good dog movie, Arthur the King! The film is directed by Mark's Family Plan director, Simon Cellan Jones, and also stars one of my favorite Kens, Simu Liu! The film is out wide from Lionsgate and its pre-sales at the moment are decently strong. It is another family film to throw into the movie theater ecosystem and it has itself a sweet, sweet 90-minute run time!

Its projected range is somewhere between $10M-$15M as well, so with all that in mind, where do we see Arthur the King landing this week? Weigh in below and we'll see what shakes out on Monday's On-Screen Live!

Have a great movie-going weekend, gang! - Andrew

Feel like families are seeing Kung Fu Panda over this. That's what we did anyway.

Duncan George

Went to see Dune and the trailer for this movie came up. It reminds me of the Channing Tatum movie with a similar plot. I don't remember how much that movie made, but Tatum didn't have entourage bro🤣🤣

Sergio Rozo

Another "based on true events" Wahlberg film? Yikes🤦🏾‍♂️

Deitrich Tennin

Depends on Vatican's population. So, under $10M?

Eren Keskin

I think it will meet projections and the reason it won’t exceed is that the families who would normally see it are engaging in St. Patrick’s Day shenanigans

Julia

I....honestly don't care. I haven't heard anything about this film. I feel a little better about the planet that I haven't heard about it. Maybe not everything about the world is against me. But...Mark "Markie" Wahlberg...I just don't give even an iota of a $#!+. I still wanna see "Boogie Nights", but only because of it's rep. DESPITE him. I...really have nothing else to say. I'm just aggressively apathetic towards him. Could he just take one decade away from reminding me that he exists?

Sarah Montgomery

I think the families still seeing the panda and this will bomb

Brad Mull

Just looked at the IMBD Tribune and Bear Grylls is in this movie as himself. Wow.

Jack B. Baker

I don't have TV (all streaming), sonI have never seen a TV ad and I 5 full days at the theater last week doing an Oscar nom marathon and I never once saw a trailer for this. There was a poster at the theater, tucked into a cozy corner spot behind the customer service desk. So this screenshot now doubles my knowledge of this movie's existence. I feel that doesn't bode well.

Derrick Affolder

Looks like dog shit. Cold.

Frank Grimes

People like dogs, c'mon bro! Dog + oddly still has a career Wahlberg=just limps over that $10m mark.

Jack B. Baker

I think it’s extremely bizarre all the ads I keep getting for this are like “we got mark fresking wahlberg” and “don’t worry, the dog lives” like what??

Lar

My dad (who was in the hospital recovering from surgery on his intestines) called me the other day to excitedly tell me they are opening a Whalburgers at the local casino. Truly exciting times we live in for New Englanders

Derek Linsky

That’s the dog I gave my meatball to!

Shawn Marek

Any WHM trips to Washington st?

Adam Forte-Dixon

I want it to under perform but unfortunately I feel like it will at worst meet expectations

Bryce Zubriski

With no context I would assume this was a still from an upcoming Ted sequel

Andrew Helander

Let's say... "yes" - Andrew

Hallmark can't afford real dogs. - Andrew

I'm saying underperform because I feel like no one knows this exists. Even I've only seen the trailer maybe twice. Personally this weekend I'm DUNE my part to boost the best movie in theaters rn (and I'm taking my best gal pal Sativa with me)!

Rose Esposito

I’ll post a tweet (or X now I guess) with proof! 😂

Lance Stein

We're gonna hold you to that, Lance! lol - Andrew

does he save the dog from an evil Vietnamese man?

Dave S

Meh.

Jack Ninivaggi

Marky Mark gonna beat those box office projections like they are a Vietnamese man!

Tyler Rowland

does Marky mark embiggen the role at all?

Dave S

Come on, bro. This will be up there like an Angel Studios production, bro.

Nathan White

Oh shit! I think Muad'Dib's power is wanining bro!

Damon LeCornu

Are they really called the pope fry’s at a wahlburgers

Adam Forte-Dixon

Man I’ve seen this commercial a ton lately, I think they’ve been showing it during national basketball games. I’m going option 3, never underestimate family box office power

RJ Cunningham

This is a Hallmark movie right? (right?)

Matthew Mariner

Hey bro, prayers up for this dog! Did you know a year for us is like 7 years to a dog? Crazy shit, bro.

Adam Weiner

The only thing I know about this movie is that screenshot, and it makes me think Wahlburg is going to eat that dog.

Matt

I saw it as one of the AMC Screen Unseen events on Monday. A completely cromulent dog movie.

Jack Ninivaggi

This is literally the first time I'm learning that this movie exists. I'm by no means the measurement for successful movies, but that's enough to make me guess it'll under-perform.

Busiris

If this movie makes 15 million dollars its opening weekend I will personally download the Hallow app.

Lance Stein

I’ve learned the hard way not to underestimate movies that pander to Christian reactionaries or star celebrities who have made that their brand

Michelle Darer

Have to take the under seeing as the first time I heard about this movie was 30 seconds ago

JK

i don't think i've heard of it before this post

Greg

Oh shit, bro, this dog is following me through the jungles of Hispaniola! It’s like a living metaphor, bro!
