Patreon Poll for the Weekend of March 8
Added 2024-03-08 18:55:39 +0000 UTCOkay, gang, at long last, there's a major family-friendly title coming out in theaters this weekend as we're finally seeing the release of Universal's Kung Fu Panda 4! The film is forecasting an opening somewhere between $44 and $54 million, which makes sense considering it's been an Arrakis-esque desert out there for family programming at the movies for quite some time now.
So, the big question on my mind today is, will Dune: Part Two hold on to the #1 spot at the box office, or will the beloved Po high-kick Shai-Hulud down to #2, making way for Kung Fu Panda 4 to reign supreme?!
Vote below on which film you think is taking the top spot this weekend: Dune: Part Two or Kung Fu Panda 4? We'll check out the results on Monday's On-Screen Live!
Have a great weekend, everybody!
Andrew

looks like it's gonna be Kung Fu Panda 4...my theater was packed with families on that Friday I went...not even migration was that packed when I saw it w/ the neph during the holidays last year.

2024-03-10 16:56:32 +0000 UTCVoting for Dune but the lack of kids movies out makes me think it’ll be really close

2024-03-09 20:16:08 +0000 UTCI am thinking Dune, but I feel it'll be close.

2024-03-09 17:37:11 +0000 UTCKung Fu Panda 4 has the superior popcorn bucket with the Chinese takeout container tub...so I dunno. I was pretty tempted to grab it at the theatre

2024-03-09 16:46:48 +0000 UTCThis is how I learned there's a Kung Fu Panda 3.

2024-03-09 02:01:46 +0000 UTCDune because of all of the poser, loser people who don’t even care about dune but just don’t want to feel left out (an example of this type of person is me, im the loser)

2024-03-08 22:59:28 +0000 UTCHmm idk. On the one hand KFP4 probably appeals to a wider demo, on the other hand most people I know with small kids just wait for everything to come to streaming.

2024-03-08 22:41:24 +0000 UTCThis was my first thought, but my guess last week was so far off that Andrew called me out point-by-point, so I say Dune 2 keeps the momentum on positive word of mouth

2024-03-08 21:52:25 +0000 UTCI would like some polls not based on box office revenue.

2024-03-08 21:35:03 +0000 UTCNothing beats animation at the box office. Especially after a drought

2024-03-08 19:38:52 +0000 UTCI think because Dune Part 2 will stay at the top because people will want to see it again and you'll also have people who didn't want to see it opening weekend (due to the crowds) so they'll go this weekend. But I think Hayden Gray above said it best, it will be close!
Bridget Bacalla
2024-03-08 19:30:26 +0000 UTCGonna give it to the kiddies...KFP4 will be number 1....I'll be contributing to its BO today, as my nephew wants to see it. I've never seen any films in the franchise, so I hope it's good for a 4th entry
Frank Grimes
2024-03-08 19:25:11 +0000 UTCI think it will be close, but I think the family draw as well as Kung Fu Panda being one of the more notable and significant animated franchises of the century so far will probably give it the edge. But I could see it going either way.
Hayden Gray
2024-03-08 19:24:55 +0000 UTCEveryone I know that has seen Dune 2 plans on seeing it again if they haven't already, I think it'll stay on top. But those kids movies are surprising. It has been 16 years since the first Panda movie though, those kids don't care about a 4th one now

2024-03-08 19:21:33 +0000 UTC“Dune 2” takes that panda’s water, and that’s a LOT of water.

2024-03-08 19:10:08 +0000 UTCWe know these kinds of kids' movies (Disgusting Shitmovies?) always do well, but I'm counting on strong word-of-mouth over this past week to give Dune another boost. Sadly I had to postpone my own second viewing til the 17th. :(

2024-03-08 19:09:08 +0000 UTCHeart says Dune, brain says Panda.

2024-03-08 19:07:04 +0000 UTCI think it will be close, but Panda will take it. Dune will stay relatively high for the coming weeks.

2024-03-08 19:06:04 +0000 UTCI'm a week behind on seeing dune 2 but knowing that the wives are staying behind while the boys visit the desert doesn't bode well for week 2

2024-03-08 19:05:38 +0000 UTCThe extended run of MIGRATION + some Spring Breaks starting points my vote to the Panda.

2024-03-08 19:04:05 +0000 UTCI took my son to see Panda yesterday and even for him being the target demographic seemed meh about it. I'm sure it'll pull bank for families and maybe it'll hit first but I don't expect a Panda 5.

2024-03-08 19:02:56 +0000 UTCI think Panda. Never underestimate kid movie franchises. I learned that working during Shrek 2 at a multiplex. My god the carnage. Also 94min vs 166 means more showtimes. If Dune pulls it off though, I'll be screaming Lisan-Al Gaib like my boy Stilgar

2024-03-08 19:02:55 +0000 UTCNot for this particular poll if that's what you mean, only because we're only talking the U.S. box office. - Andrew

2024-03-08 19:02:50 +0000 UTCI went with my heart, but not my mind and picked Dune 2. I took my son the a 5:00 pm show of KFP4 last night and it was a full screening of families. Families have had a content drought since December, so I would be surprised if Panda doesn't pop.

2024-03-08 19:00:59 +0000 UTCIs it opening in China is the question
Zerox
2024-03-08 19:00:35 +0000 UTCI imagine the lack of family entertainment recently will provide KFP4 a big boost, but I think the positive word of mouth will keep Dune 2 steady and above it. Time will tell...

2024-03-08 19:00:18 +0000 UTCThe family stayed home last weekend because of Dune, I think they come out full force for this one. Panda in a close win

2024-03-08 19:00:11 +0000 UTCI don’t think Panda will take it, I’m seeing a decent bit of Dune memes.
